I agree with you. First off, I would also question a true photographer putting his equipment in that much peril. I think the tripod would have collapsed before getting to the point in the photo because of the plastic and nylon involved in the construction of it.

It is true. Someone else posted this yesterday with a story to go with it - some guy in Hawaii did it.
