Does anybody have any experience with the Vivitar 13mm f/2.8 lens? Is it at least as good as a kit lens in the 18-55 range? I would anticipate shooting mostly in the f/11-f/8 range.
Thanks in advance for all input.

I have no experience of this lens but I used a 15mm Voigtlander f4.5 a lot and it works best at f5.6 or f8, as diffraction affects the resolution at smaller apertures like f11. Rather than stopping down too much, reduce the ISO setting to the minimum if the light is bright, to exclude digital noise, use faster shutter speeds to minimise motion blur or shake.
I didn't answer your question but I hope this helps.

Jim, don't know anything about it. But at 2.8, you'd think it was a pro grade lens. That's fast for a 14mm !
If you got it at a garage sale, great find. I'm sure it's manual.
Good luck with it. SS

Thanks for your input. I'm picking it up at sub $200 with right to refund. I'll give it a try and see if I can get the kind of image I'm looking for which is tack sharp from 5 ft to infinity. Yes, it is manual, which I like.
