This entire web site is really just a conspiracy perpetrated by the manufacturers of photographic equipment, isn’t it? All of you so-called members are really just a handful of employees of this conspiracy, aren’t you?

It’s not enough that I have BEGUN my journey with a DSLR and more glass than any sane person would buy before even learning all the functions of the camera, is it? Oh, no! NOW you have to go and start praising all the qualities of the Canon SX50! So, I tell my husband, “They’re trying to talk me into buying another camera”; and I proceed to sing the praises I’ve been reading. “Buy that one for me”, he replies. There I am, sitting at the computer, only a few keystrokes away from Amazon – and he tells me to buy something! Well, Father’s Day is this coming Sunday, and I have not yet bought anything for the kids to give their Dad. You know what happened. Don’t pretend you have any doubt about it. His diabetes causes nearly constant visual impairment. He’ll play with it for about 15 minutes before figuring out that on this camera also, he can’t see through the viewfinder or see its LCD screen. And then what will become of the camera?

I’ve got GAS. I’ve got GAS BAD! And it’s because of all that you so-called “members” have been feeding me!

Is there a twelve-step program for this?

By the way, the camera should be delivered Wednesday. Should I wait until Sunday to give it to him?

"Father's Day is just another commercial opportunity. Hope you enjoy the SX50, you'll then have 2 cameras to learn how to use!

No we are all real people. Almost all of us, at one time or another have look for the same thing...'a magic camera'.
Don't feel too bad about being in this club, because there are worse clubs to be in, like the golf people who are always looking for that 'magic club or ball'.
Just remember the camera and or the club are just 'tools'.
No matter how much they cost they just won't make you a better photographer (or golfer) by just owning one.
The first thing in photography that makes a good capture,
is a good subject, everything else is sort of like 'modern art'

I feel your pain. In my younger years I used to search for the perfect tennis racquet. Now my focus is more on photography. Things don't really change. Enjoy your new camera. Bab

I do believe I am real. I read what everyone says about this new camera and this new lens and I am truly envious of their purchase. But realize that I do not always need the newest an best that is on the market. But want hurts a lot. Enjoy your new purchase.

One thing about having the best equipment is that you always know for certain that it ain't the equipments fault. lol

STVest, I just tried something really scary. I've been on this forum since not long after it started but don't recall much before that. My computer has two buttons. One is labeled "the Hog" the other is labeled "The Trumen Show". Next to them they both say "ON" and "OFF".
Anyway, after reading your post I actually clicked on the one next to "the Hog", that said,"off". I actually started to VAPORIZE !! So I quickly hit the "on" button, just before my arms disappeared.
WOW, that was REALLY scary !!!
Now I'm having constant feelings of self doubt.
Happy virtual shooting.

Edit: to All, run out and get all that expensive, high-end gear you've been dreaming about. You never know when your computer might crash.
I'm on Amazon as we speak!!

Oh, no! Don't hit that off button again. You are one of the main conspirators here (as further evidenced by your edit). If you were to vaporize, the entire house of cards might come tumbling down.

I need an off switch next to my Amazon button.

A lot of you have been real quick to proclaim your existence. You have heard the phrase "doth protest too much" haven't you? Not convinced. Thanks SharpShooter for your honesty.

Amazon will suck you in and devour your available credit I think to myself as I am one mere keystroke from buying my LAST lens, 70-200 2.8L IS USM.

Personally I am all to REAL as every week I punch in my pin and pay my camera pimp, while lusting after the NEXT "Must have"

MAKE HIM WAIT TIL SUNDAY@!!!!!!!!!!!
he will appreciate the thought MORE

Laughing as I read this. I do hair all day and a number of my clients are going on great trips this summer. I have my iPad with me at work and last week I price checked the SX50 for two of my clients and they went to Best Buy and bought. Why did I a Nikon shooter do such a thing? The Hog made me do it. Seriously tho the SX50 is exactly what they said they were looking for and I showed them some great photos posted here.
