Well, that's the way digital technology goes. Replaced while you were testing it out of the box.

The industry says jump... the normal response... HOW HIGH?

It's only obsolete if I stop learning or just sit in front of a computer and talk about taking pictures while never actually taking any.

So I'm feeling a little smug about some awesome images from my 47 year old Rolleiflex.

Yes, I have a D7000 too, but I am resisting the urge to get sucked in.

I'd be surprised if progress stopped. My D600 is more advanced than my Brownie of the 60's, and the camera I'll own in fifty years will be more advanced still. We all move up the technology ladder at our own pace, but we all move eventually.

Just imagine what it would do to the resale value of your current camera. The market will be flooded with cameras nobody wants because of their inferior sensors.

Mormorazzi, how are you gonna get up to the ceiling to nail that card to it??
Ahhh, never mind, I just figured it out.
The same way your gonna get up there to get it back down, when you gotta have that new sensor!!
Be strong!!

Very much agree. I'm still using my D300 with a meager 12.3 megapixels. In a recent rating of sensors that appeared in a thread on UHH, mine was rated at #67-- or something like that.

When I reach the ceiling, then I'll contemplate a new body. I may rent a FF D800e for a week, first. Only problem is, the rental fees are hefty....

If the camera serves your needs, does a nice job with say both stills and video and serves you pretty well is it really obsolete? The industry will tell you it is because they want you to buy, buy, buy but do you really need to?

Sure I'd love to have a newer model but do I need it, no.
So why would I listen to the industry.

That's why I don't own a DSLR. I'll just stick with my old film stuff and be happy. I can buy a lot of film for what a new DSLR cozts every three or four years.

as long as i enbrace the concept of enough, even my canon a-1 and sony a-200 would keep me going until i'm 80. but i got caught up in the "buy" frenzy so i have 3 more cameras.

Just remerber to nail it face up, otherwise you can still lie in bed and look up and order on QVC.

Yes mine is obsolete apparently, superceded by the next model - and it still does everything that it would do the day I bought it when it was the a game changer.
Obsolete is a relative term.
