My husband and I are headed to the Everglades and I want to take pics of course. Does anyone have experience with a particular tour company they could recommend? Sure would appreciate any info. Also anything we should not miss while in the keys. Thanks in advance.

Don't bother with a tour company. If you are driving or renting a car, both the Shark Valley area (you might also like to take one of the air boat rides) on the Tamiami Trail and the southern entrance between Homestead and Flamingo are well worth the trip. Leave your small dog at home.

Thanks, we are driving. Leaving the small dog at home was not an issue...he got in a tussle with a big dog and is recuperating at the vet. :(

You wont have to look very hard to find gators and birds. They are everywhere. Just go slow, stop often and stay in your car. Take your lunch and lots of bottled water. You can't drink the water you see everywhere and you get hot.

Thanks. Didn't think about lunch or water - just pictures. And I guess eating the local wildlife is frowned upon.

I wouldn't bother with one of the commercial air-boat tours. They aren't actually in the National Park. There are several roads in the park. There is a ranger station just inside the south entrance. It lists the time and location of the ranger led tours. Most are free. You won't understand the ecosystem of the everglades if you don't take one. It is not a swamp, it's a river.

One tour over on the west side by boat does cost a little but is well worth it.
