interesting, I was looking at the 6D but didn't make the jump because of a couple of factors, mostly the cross type focal points the 7D had compared to the 6D.

I am interested in your views on the 40 pancake lens.

Hi Annie.
The 19 focus points did not make a difference to me even though I tried it before, I always use the center point auto focus so I can choose where I want the focus to be and it even works on birds in flight.
I have not used the 40mm pancake lens but a couple times but the quality seems to be very good just wish it was at least f/1.8. The size is the main reason for the purchase but I have not had it long enough to give good report on it.

BIF 1 single point auto focus
BIF 1 single point auto focus...

BIF 2 single point auto focus
BIF 2 single point auto focus...

DPreview.com should have a professional evaluation of the two cameras.

I wish they would have stayed with a SD card instead of changing to compact flash. I guess they figure if you can afford the 6D you can afford to purchase new memory cards. Personally I love my 7D and won't be trading it in anytime soon.

I also love everything about the 7D except the noise at high ISO which was why I done the comparison shots. At ISO 400 or lower I'm sure the 7D would hold it's own, It does make great quality photos. It was the high ISO performance that done it for me.
By the way, you sound like me on the cards, I think you mean they should have stayed with the compact flash instead of changing to SD and yes I agree.

Yes, that's right the 6D uses one sd card the 5d markiii uses both compact flash and sd where the 7D uses one compact flash.
I thought you meant that they should have stayed with the compact flash on the 6D. Sorry I misunderstood what what you were saying.

Yes the 7D uses CF...sorry for the confusion in my original statement...6D uses SD only. So my CF cards become useless if I upgraded to 6D.
