You will be so happy with it you will want to buy me another one. I already have two. Or you can buy me the D7100.

It's a great camera, and you can get new, refurbished, or used for very good prices, compared with when it was new. If you buy used, get the shutter count first.

Thanks guys for the quick feedback. How does the 7000 compare to the 300? A loaded question I know but any input would be great. Best Buy has the 7000 on sale right now for $999 with a 18-105 lens. Sounds like a good deal. Thinking of selling my D300 to get some extra $ to put towards the 7000.

Do it fast if you're going to do it... The 7000 has already been replaced by the 7100 and I'd guess there aren't a lot of 7000's left.

There's lots of sites that compare one camera to another. This is one that I like, scroll down a ways and you'll see their reasoning and be able to talk to some one about the two. There are many D7000 users on the forum that swear by them. Here's a link

When I was deciding between the 7000 and the 300 I read a lot about the buffer on the 7000 being a liability when shooting lots of frames in a short amount of time. I have noticed that, at the races, I can fill the buffer on the 7000 pretty quickly. All it means, though, is that I have to wait a second or so, and then I can continue shooting. I really like the 7000; but I'm sure that they are both very good choices. I was able to get the dealer to swap out lenses. Instead of the 18-105 I paid extra to get the 28-300 zoom. I'm really glad I did that. Of course that little swap made it a very expensive afternoon. lol

They are both great cameras. I like the way the 300 is laid out, more intuitive for me and the build quality is slightly better. I think the image quality is visibly better straight out of the D7000 and if you shoot in low light, the D7000 is in an altogether different category from the 300. I did a side-by-side comparison between the 7000 and the full-frame D700 and they were too close to tell.
The D7000 is the best DX camera I have ever used.

I shoot a D300, I bought my wife a D7000 shortly after they came out. I have to say, that I REALLY like the D7000. The only thing I don't like is it's limited on the auto-bracket and it's really got a hair trigger of a shutter button. Other than that, I think you will love it. Oh, and it shoots pretty decent video.

Hi I would go with the D7100, or with the D600. I have the D7000, I love mine and it's really cool I'm thinking of getting a 16 gb Wi-Fi card I Have got an eight gb Wi-Fi card to just make JPEG's and it goes right directly to my iPad. I have friends that have both the D7100 and The D600 and love both of them

a great camera. I have one as my personal camera and use the D300 at work. I like the D7000 better.

I had a D300 and loved it. I bought a D7000 and loved it even more.
