Where are these tips? Do I need to search for them? TRhese tips were a bait to sign up for the newsletter.

Do a search for Camera Shake and you'll get 75 threads to investigate.

However, if you think you were hooked (see "bait" above) into this forum, you should know that we have no captives, just voluntary members. We hope you'll stick around because you WANT to, not because you HAVE to.

I was thinking (may I shouldn't) but if all the answers are here on the Hog there probably no reason for new posts. What do you think?

For every question you have posed, there are probably twenty or thirty threads in which you will find twenty or thirty different answers. Also thrown in for good measure will be the odd totally unrelated post.

So you get over four hundred tips on the same question, some good, some bad and some tips you did not really want but get anyway. During the course of getting a question answered there appears to be three standard stock answers before the thread really gets underway, they are "Use the Search Button", "Google it" and "Read the Manual".

There are also standardised answers to these "Search Button not working or Dissapeared", "Tried Google but it did not answer my Question" and "Lost my manual".

Keep your cool and press on, if neccessary repeat your question. Two major subjects on this site are American Politics and er. . . more American Politics. In fact there are some Hoggers who only involve themselves in the American Politics section of UHH. This is called Chit Chat and sometimes has some funny but tired jokes between the political ravings of the fanatics.

The favourite photographic topic is usually headed something like "I have bought a camera and want to do weddings - how much shall I charge?". When this topic comes up all the best seems to come out in the membership - try it - but do hold onto something solid when reading the replies.

Anyway, welcome to the forum and Good Luck.
For every question you have posed, there are proba... (show quote)

Very good answer!

Where are these tips. Remember these were the tips that enticed you to sign up for the newsletter? Do I have to search for them? It would be great if they were under one topic.
- How to make almost anyone look great when taking their portrait. Regardless of facial features, type of face and hair. A few tricks to position light and the angle of your camera that work on 95% of people.)

- Is there a better way to compose than the "rule of threes?"

- One simple technique that allows you to use your flash in a way that makes your pictures look as if flash wasn't used at all. (The opposite of deer-in-headlights amateurish pictures you would normally get when using flash.) So if you hate using flash because it makes your pictures look bad, then you really need to learn this.

- How to make HDR pictures without them looking either soft (with no contrast what so ever) or over-saturated to the point of looking like a cartoon?

- How to make sure pictures taken indoors and without flash aren't blurred.

- How to make money off of your photography no matter where you are located?

- Which camera gear is right for your specific needs?

- How to take a giant shot of the moon while keeping your foreground subject(s) sharp?

- Is good "glass" always more important than expensive "body"? (you would be surprised!)

- How to reduce camera shake without using a tripod.
Where are these tips? Do I need to search for them? TRhese tips were a bait to sign up for the newsletter.

- How to make those beautiful blurred backgrounds you see in professional photos while keeping your subject perfectly crisp.

- Which cameras have the best performance in low light situations?

- Are macro lenses better for regular photography than regular glass?

- Is it generally better to increase ISO or to lower shutter speed? (for non-action shots)

It would be nothing but cool to have the threads in an orderly and available download, but getting this done with this bunch (and I say that with all respect and affection), would be rather like herding chickens into the coop. Frankly, it would have all the makings of a best seller in all probability so I will vote for anyone but me to do the job.

I have come to really love this site. I think you will also. The answers you are looking for will be given once you ask the question. And believe me, you will get answers. Not all will be what you are looking for but most the regulars will give good advice/answers. Yet, some others can get down right rude.

As you gain experience in the forum you will find that when you ask the individual question the reply you will receive is "read the manual" or "search in Google". The forum has some well prepared specialists in this area of enquiry.

Some where along the way the N/C PP cultists misplaced their aluminum foil Pointed hats. We all became photographers, the day we picked up our Argus, Kodak or whatever was in the Christmas stocking and shot our first roll---some of us more serious than others. But those of us who allowed as such that we did not invent what we just discovered have been able to hang on and have fun. Watch a good jazz pianist doing his thing and you'll understand where I'm coming from........

Welcome to the forum, and have fun. If you take this too seriously, it won't be fun. When using Search, try (advanced options) and check the box to sort by most recent. There are other restrictions you can use when searching to narrow the results a bit.

Ehheh, we got another Twoll ..... are they related doc?
