Where are these tips. Remember these were the tips that enticed you to sign up for the newsletter? Do I have to search for them? It would be great if they were under one topic.

- Is there a better way to compose than the "rule of threes?"
- One simple technique that allows you to use your flash in a way that makes your pictures look as if flash wasn't used at all. (The opposite of deer-in-headlights amateurish pictures you would normally get when using flash.) So if you hate using flash because it makes your pictures look bad, then you really need to learn this.
- How to make HDR pictures without them looking either soft (with no contrast what so ever) or over-saturated to the point of looking like a cartoon?

No it is a new post,
Ok I will start off the sort of replies you will/may get
"For most of the answers to your questions use the supplied "search" tab at the top"

Welcome to UHH, imalaski !
Not sure that this list enticed me to sign up, I think that I found a link to UHH in one of my Yahoo newsgroups.
You copied this list from right here on the Hog:
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/newsletter.jspThe section you copied is headed:
"Here are just some of the things we talk about:" but nowhere does it say that all these subjects are in one place. Yes, doing a search would indeed be a good place to start, there is a search-link on the top of this page.
If, after doing a search, you don't find the answer to your question, just start a new topic and someone will either answer your question, or refer you to a link where the answer can be found.
EstherP
For every question you have posed, there are probably twenty or thirty threads in which you will find twenty or thirty different answers. Also thrown in for good measure will be the odd totally unrelated post.
So you get over four hundred tips on the same question, some good, some bad and some tips you did not really want but get anyway. During the course of getting a question answered there appears to be three standard stock answers before the thread really gets underway, they are "Use the Search Button", "Google it" and "Read the Manual".
There are also standardised answers to these "Search Button not working or Dissapeared", "Tried Google but it did not answer my Question" and "Lost my manual".
Keep your cool and press on, if neccessary repeat your question. Two major subjects on this site are American Politics and er. . . more American Politics. In fact there are some Hoggers who only involve themselves in the American Politics section of UHH. This is called Chit Chat and sometimes has some funny but tired jokes between the political ravings of the fanatics.
The favourite photographic topic is usually headed something like "I have bought a camera and want to do weddings - how much shall I charge?". When this topic comes up all the best seems to come out in the membership - try it - but do hold onto something solid when reading the replies.
Anyway, welcome to the forum and Good Luck.

Maybe someone should gather together all the answers that have been submitted, sort them according to category, and make them into a book. I'd do it, but I spend so much time reading and writing here that I wouldn't have the time. :D
thanks for the replies . I was interested in the first sentence "How to make almost anyone look great when taking their portrait. Regardless of facial features, type of face and hair. A few tricks to position light and the angle of your camera that work on 95% of people.) "
Yes i did notice the search button and I did a search and there was so many replies.
will take the advice and search and most likely will learn from the many answers and relies.

Welcome to the forum, and have fun. If you take this too seriously, it won't be fun. When using Search, try (advanced options) and check the box to sort by most recent. There are other restrictions you can use when searching to narrow the results a bit.
what in the heck is this thread about?
I came here looking for that same newsletter with all of those articles. I never found it, but I found something better. There is not much that you cant find out by asking the folks here, or by reading the replies to the questions of others.
Welcome to the Hog.
Thank you from an amateur photographer.

I have to agree with the OP in that the "come on" is misleading. It made me think that there is someone who runs this site who is a knowledgeable professional photographer and who has a section devoted to those very specific tips and tricks. No where does it say that you may have to spend hours searching the site for the hundreds of posts contributed by users that relate to the subject and then try to sort out the trash from the gems.
