Politically correct is usually intellectually dishonest. With the exception of truly hurtful terms of the racial, gender or ethic types, I generally prefer the politically incorrect terms just to see the reaction.
Zero Tolerance, for example, really means, Zero Intelligence. :-)

LOL! I feel so refreshed when I see one of your posts! And I don't even use Irish Spring soap. :-)
That has happened so many time lately - just too dumb to consider the circumstances. - aka - " contempt without investigation"

Well, Steve M, first of all I'd like to thank you for caring enough to ask which is most mannerly, appropriate or as you put it, PC. You are a gentleman.
Personally, I think of "Pictures and Snapshots" as quick, unplanned, and spontaneous. "Photos, Images, Captures, etc." imply a more artistic and careful intent. This could be a regional thing, though. I'm in Southern US.

Just curious....what's your definition of the two? What makes them snaps and not photographs? Age of shooter? Skillset of shooter? Subject matter?
Snapshot, a capture of a moment in time or to me a quick snap of history I will look back on, but a photograph is something I have taken time to achieve
Thanks for all the additional comments. I would have to say that most of the images I take are snap shots, well at least 80 percent of them. I try to consider lighting, setting, framing etc so the other 20 percent are images. Yes, sometimes I get a good image. We all know how fast life goes by and we all tend to rush a lot more than we use to.
I sure do appreciate the honesty of all the comments above.
LLucas: That has to be the nicest thing anyone has said to me in a very long time. I appreciate the great comment.
Thanks to all for taking the time to reply.

Image, capture, shot, photo, photograph, pic - all the same.

A good photograph is something you sell.
A great photography is something you display for others to marvel at.
Political correctness on this forum is when you offer your opinion only when asked. Otherwise, you shut the hell up or say "nice shot" and move on. :-)

Great shot at the answer. Now I am shutting up and moving on. LOL
I'm new to the language and it looks like I have a long way to go before it gets perfect; then it changes.
This is a "cheap" shot.
There are multiple objectives when using language i.e. to inform, to confuse, to annoy, to praise, to make fun, etc.
They all cause thinking to occur and that includes the reactions that follow. That was mine.

So when is a shot a shot, a photo a photo or a photograph a photograph.
I see a lot of comments saying nice shot, or nice photo/photograph. I feel I may be insulting folks by saying that was a great shot, or should it be nice photograph.
How do others feel about the political correctness of comments. Or do they all mean the same?
Comments definitely welcome. Thanks for reading

Steve,
I use the word image a lot. Partially because I had a G grandfather that was a black and white early days photographer. He was a pioneer in the film days of photography. Yes, sometime I use pp to enhance my images but I do not believe that wha we do today is the same as those that use chemicals and manipulate the photograph to obtain the desired image. Also to try to show respect for those who still us film to do their work .
My 2 cents.
Blake
I feel it is a photo when it has been printed/developed from the digital image negative or slide
