She certainly had the ability to polarise opinion, even in death.

I was one of the few people who were, financially better off with her in power. But I didn't have my head jammed so far up my own @rse, that I couldn't see the effect she had on most hard working honest folk.

Coming from, and recovering from decades of despair that socialism creates is no cake walk...

God speed Margaret Thatcher.

God speed indeed .... A fine lady, a fine statesman... one of the best leaders that this country has ever had ... steadfast and passionate about her country...

She had more balls than all of the rest of them put together .... The only people that didn't care for the "Iron Lady" were the miners that she defeated and the unions that she crushed .... good job in my opinion ...

She played a big role in the bringing down of the Berlin wall... showed Europe the door... but was a good friend to the United States...
I wish we had more world leaders that were like her .... the United Kingdom needs her now or someone very similar..

God Speed indeed!

Interesting that most of the pro-Thatcher posts have come from USA citizens who never had to endure her regime.

She did rule for over 11 years which made her the longest-serving British Prime Minister in the 20th century, which contradicts your contention regarding the lack of support for her in Britain. 8-)

In the news today.

I agree. Sorry if UK citizens don't agree. But to cut down and say such terrible things about a leader on the day she passes is what I think ' VERY TERRIBLE TASTE'

George W. Bush
“Laura and I are saddened by the death of Baroness Margaret Thatcher. She was an inspirational leader who stood on principle and guided her nation with confidence and clarity. Prime Minister Thatcher is a great example of strength and character, and a great ally who strengthened the special relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States. Laura and I join the people of Great Britain in remembering the life and leadership of this strong woman and friend.”
