Are there any websites/businesses that you folks on here that know lots about photography that would be able to take prints and make wall murals or posters of them? I have a Canon 50D and 60D; use the max resolution, so I'm assuming end quality wouldn't suffer in that regard. My Spousal Unit has an ongoing building of a train set in a room upstairs. The wall is crappy and he'd like to have some type of scenery on the wall. Anything he'd choose would have to be mounted on plywood, or some kind of hanging contraption, as the plaster is junk. And I am NOT gonna bust it all off and re-plaster. The job would cost more than this crummy old farmhouse is worth. So, I got the idea of using some photos I have taken for getting a background made. I have NO clue as to where to look, or who would be reputable.

Thanks. Am thinking a couple of my Africa pix would look good wall-sized.

I print my own anymore at home, but I previously had posters up to 24x36 made at Costco, very reasonable and vary fast. Quality depends on your file size, and the sharpness of your image. Prints that size will reveal all your exposure flaws.

I was watching an instructional video the other day, and the instructor mentioned an Epson Stylus Pro 3880. I looked it up. I costs about $1,200, and the ink cartridges cost almost $600. That seems a bit extreme.

Vistaprint does posters, although they've never printed one for me.

Epsons inks are never cheap. And the 3880 is only a 17" wide printer, 17x22 it its largest size, but it will run panoramas on roll paper.

Considering what they charge for ink, it might be cheaper to bring someone in to paint the scene. :D

I haven't used them personally, but my Sister-in-Law uses Vista Prints and has GREAT results with their stuff. I think they are on the pricy side so I use Costco for my big stuff (well, not since I bought my Epson R3000 - go 13x44" baby)

Oh, 3x4 feet, at least.

I Googled mural from your photos and looked at a site. You could upload a pic and they would tell you if it was mural material. Now, I ask you, can they tell me it is a poor candidate when it is 18.1 MP and a VERY clear photo. Grrrr.

I have used Burrell labs to do 40x60 prints in the past, but not for a couple of years:

I have gone to Staples here in the northeast, Bethlehem,Pa. They did a very nice job of 22x31 of my granddaughter for about $20. I emailed the photo from my iPhone! I was very surprised and my granddaughter loved it.
