Why not split the topics?

Why not split the topics in this forum from all questions, to questions about specific cameras and equipment, and general questions. I shoot Canon, and Canon products, or Canon mount lenses. I'm not really interested in how a Nikon specific question plays out. However, if a question arises about a all camera problem I read all the posts. So, I suggest a Nikon, Canon, Pentax, and misc cameras other than those specified. This would help members drill down on their specific brand of camera and equipment issue.

I enjoy learning the differences between brands, and have more that once switched a piece of gear because of the discussions. Further, if you want something specific, use 'Search'. I vote 'Keep it the way it is'.

Not a bad idea but there are folks that have more than one brand of camera, JR1 for example has both Canon and Nikon. Like you I am a Canon shooter and sometimes I just skip over the topics about other camera makes if I think I would not be interested. I think having it all under one general forum is better as there is a lot of information given which can be pertinent to your camera as well as the OP. Just my opinion of course

I like the idea of giving topic categories. But the idea of doing by brand is not the way to do it

What I'd like to see is topic titles with more information, and per your area of interest, that title could include the camera brand.

Wouldn't simply putting the brandname of your camera int he subject line solve that? There are also questions being asked that mention a specific brandname, but the question and its answer could apply to all brands. I don't think you can avoid overlap. I vote to maintain the status quo.

There are already forums for the various brands. What I like about UHH is the general discussions. I learn about photography, Nikon bodies, Sony bodies, etc. I also learn about different brands of lenses and accessories. Too much specialization isn't what I'm looking for.

Great idea, putting ypur camera brand in the topic title, but do a search on the word, "Help", and you get a lot of hits. I think it's more about educating the new members (and some veterans) about effective titles. I'm a Nikon user but am interested in other brands.

I use a Kodak Brownie Target Six-20. I'd be in a lonely part of the forum.

Judging by your avatar, I see you got the advanced model with the round lens.

I shot Canon, Nikon, Minolta 35mm Nikon 35mm and am looking at a 4x5 view camera.

Why not simply disregard subjects about which you have no interest.
Easy for you and no action required for the rest of the folks in the forum.
OR You might consider opening a _______ Camera forum

Of course that is what the forum is about, that is also true, separating things could introduce similar to camera clubs, Nikon owners in one corner, Canon in another, Panasonic in the third and Pentax in the other, sorry others you can mingle
