I just purchased the Shutterboss/Vello VERCC2 timer for my 7D camera. It seems very complicated to set up. I have read the small manual that came with it....and it dosen't help. Their Tech. Support doesn't even answer the phone, and will not return phone calls.

I looked it up on Google, and that isn't any help either......it just tells you where to buy it. I bought it from B&H, and I am thinking about returning it and buying one with Canons name on it. At least I would have Tceh.Support.

Do any of you UHH'ers have this timer, or had any experence with any of them?

Have you tried asking the tech support staff at B&H to help you? They usually have a pretty good working knowledge of the stuff they market.

I have this exact interval timer and I use it to make short time lapse videos. I have had it for almost a year now and it has worked great for that purpose. I have an old 30D laying around that I dedicate for TL vids so that I'm not running up the shutter count on my 7D.

What are you wishing to mostly use the timer for?

Beautiful time lapse SwampGator I really like it. I only have the one Camera 7D, and I don't want to run up the shutter count on that camera. I may just return it. Thanks,

Kenny

Thanks, glad you liked those.
Was making time lapse videos the reason you initially bought the Vello, or did you want it for other purposes?

I just wanted to make Time Lapse videos. I have a Canon remote RS-80N3 that works great. The 7D is too good of a camera to run up the shutter count. If I had an older Canon, I would probably do the same thing you are doing.

Have you considered a camcorder with a time lapse option? I use a JVC which does TL in HD, with a 40X optical zoom. It is adjustable from 1 to 80 second intervals, easy to use, makes a quality video, & only cost a few hundred.

I have done time lapse on a DSLR but too much mucking around. With a camcorder, set it up, press the record button, & do something else for an hour or two.

I never thought about that DOOK. I may look into that. Thanks,

Hi, Photo One, I don't know about the Vello timer, but I purchased a Satechi remote control from Amazon and it has worked fine for over a year doing time-lapse and long exposures. Fairly simple to operate. I have a canon t3i and just looked on Amazon, there is one for the 7d as well. You might try looking and see if it is simplier to use than the Vello.

I think I have 2 choices, keep the timer and look for a older Canon to use with it, or return this one. I really don't want to run up the shetter counts on my 7D.

Well Swamp Gator, after talking to MT Shooter, I think I will keep the ShutterBoss/Vello timer for my 7D. Now I just need to learn how to use it.

I have the Vello shutter Boss (with Sony cord). I have not used it much yet. I agree the manual is not clear enough about it's use.

Things I have figured out to help my use of it:
- Most uses require you to have the camera settings adjusted to what the manual says as well as setting on the controller.
- There are two levels of settings (top and bottom) that do different things.
- As with most electronic tech things, it will take some time of using it before you will master it.

Thank You....you got that right. I am working with it right now. They have no Tech. Support.
