About user:
Occupaion: Retired Interests: Photography, Cooking Biography: From the time I received a Kodak Brownie camera on my 9th birthday, I have loved photography. I have enjoyed learning how to create wonderful photographs by striving to improve not only my photographic skills, but my post-processing skills as well. While I endeavor to get the shot right in the camera, I do enjoy the artistic and creative aspects of working with image editing programs, although I try to keep post-processing to a minimum, believing that 'more is less', in order to keep the scene as natural as possible. Capturing the beauty of landscapes was my first passion. The black and white photographs from my early days with that little Brownie allowed me to learn about composition, emphasis and light. With my first color film (Kodachrome . . . Ah, beautiful Kodachrome . . . ), I knew I had found a lifelong passion.. For 30 years I worked for Coca-Cola Enterprises, ending my career as a senior executive. I have no regrets about my focus during those productive and satisfying years. I chose early retirement in 1993, and with it came the gift of time. Fueled by a life-long love of landscape photography, I began canvassing the West for the sweeping 'shots' that would translate into powerful photographs. I have never stopped looking. My thirst for composition and rich color keeps me on the road in Arizona, Wyoming and Montana. I'm self-taught, entirely trial and error, with ideas from books and magazines and the few seminars I have attended. What has made me into a photographer is simply this - a real love of the natural world, plus plenty of practice and dedication. I am a perfectionist, and thus many of my images are discarded. I have found that I have a 'natural eye' for composition, sensing when a scene in my lens will translate into balance, color, shadows, and just enough of the unknown to invite the viewer in.
