If you are using photoshop, use any solid color background and relplace that color in PS with black. This will give you the solid black you want. You can get a chroma key green backgorund paper for $15 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/203848-REG/Savage_46_2612_Widetone_Seamless_Background_Paper.html) This would be your best bet. Any solid color will work you just have to spend a little more time selecting the back ground color.

The green background might not work so well photographing flowers since there will most likely be green in the stems and flowers.

I have a question and it may appear to be a dumb one, (because I have no idea) but I would like to know if the size of the card, (ex.) 4GB or 8GB has any influence on photo quality.

If it helps, I have a Nikon D3100.

Please and thank you. :-)

By the title of this thread I take it that you are asking about an SD card. Always buy the highest rated card you an afford. If you shoot in continous mode you will need it. Someone suggested a UDMA 6 card which to my understanding is a Compact Flash card not an SD card.

I haven't tried the landscape crop yet. I will however do that and see what happens. It was shot portrait but I think I can get a good landscape look. Thanks for your comments.
It definitely is a great shot either way. Your focus was perfect!!

Thanks Country's Mama, I didn't mention in my prior post, but Critique is welcome!

Love them both...Your depth of field is right on. Nice job. I think my fav it the cowboy. Did you try a landscape crop on that one. Maybe give the horse a little more room on each end but still show enough dirt underneath him to show how high off the ground he is.

Great photo but kind of a sad commentary on where we're headed with technology.

I like wilson,,could bend some steers on that boy,,the windmill pic is very clever,,nice shots Janis
You are right Kenny....he has a very good blood line in the cutting horse world. I did this shoot for an artist that wanted to paint the old and the new but never got around to painting anything. I am going to just edit them, print them and use for myself.

Macro of flower converted to HDR. Comments or suggestions please
I am not sure what program you are using for processing your HDR but if you are using Photomatix I can make a couple of suggestions. First thing I do to one is adjust the Gamma. Then you can bump up the Black Point and take the White point down some. I see that you have some black don't know exactly what to call it through out your pic. You can take that out using the Micro-smoothing and Smooth Highlights. You will want to bump up the saturation after you do that. If you can't get the saturation you want from processing in Photomatix save it and then do some editing in Photoshop to finish it off.

You are right Kenny....not that easy to get a good shot around those barrels. It is fun tho and a good excuse to be right up next to the action.

These have been converted from color and seem to have problem with the whites in the sky and the dark spot in the upper left. No PS because I only have Picassa 3 so that's what I have to work with. Also the spots that get very white like the roofs on the buildings or at times the roads because where these were shot they use white shale rock for their dirt roads and drives. Please feel free to critique and give suggestions......

Have you tried HDR photography. These would be perfect images for HDR. You would get your contrast you are looking for and do away with the blown out highlights.
