Here is another random test with the new camera and lens to see how it does in extreme dark and light situations. The wife added some Halloween decorations to our living room. When I saw the light coming from the window on the fire place, and all our eclectic decorations, it fascinated me enough to break out the new camera and test it again. As usual, it's best to download this one!

Hi Brent: Noticed the family portrait on the wall. Did your son do the photography?

Has anyone made foam covers for the tripod legs (for shoulder comfort)?
I was thinking of using foam insulation from Home Depot and some black electrical tape.
Has anyone done this? Any pictures? If so, what size insulation foam, 1/4", 3/8"?

use water pipe insulation measure the tripod diameter and get that size insulation. You can get it in black.

For all the experienced photographers out there, I wonder if you could identify a single thing that made a significant improvement in your photography. Maybe it was a course you took, or a book you read, or some decision you made. Anything you could look back on and say "After that, my photography was better" in some way.

I feel like I have plateaued - my photos don't seem to be any better composed, captured, or processed than they were a year ago. So I am looking for something that will propel me a bit further. I'd be interested in the experience of others.

Clemens hit it on the head. Learn to see the light and your photograpahy will become much better.

budah you might want to consider a Tamron 28 -300 VC lens. It is about 629.00. It is light weight and would be equivalent to a 42 - 450 mm lens on your 70D body. It is sharp, focuses to 19" throughout the lens and although not a fast lens with your 70D capabilities for high ISO's would give you a wide range of setting options. I have had one for several years and it is warrantied for 6 years. It is an excellent lens!

Installed and started using Google Chrome last week and talk about screwing up my computer...Going to take days to straighten it out...

Has anyone else had this problem with google ???

I have had the same experience and after about 2 months I have not been able to get all the ads and surveys out of it. Lots of luck with getting rid of them.

Can anyone guide me as to the best thing to do, I have a Canon EFS17-85mm Image Stabilizer lens that works fine how ever if when walking with the lens attached to camera the zoom just slides out, therefore it is obviously loose can this be repaired at low cost or do I need to purchase a replacement? ( very very small budget)

Hello from Indiana. I recently had a Tamron lens which did the same thing. I returned it to Tamron for repair and they repaired it under warranty. They can be fixed. I don't know how old your lens is but maybe the Manufacturer would do the same for you. Hope it gets fixed because it is annoying to say the least. Malcom

Hi Brent. I am sure that was fun for you photographing a large group of very energetic teens. Lots of action. I noticed something intriguing in #13. The seaweed in the lower right resembles a turtle. OR am I getting senile?

Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and about to purchase my first dslr. I've decided to go with the Nikon d5300, and I'd like some lens advice. Would you recommend I start with the kit lense 18-140mm and use it as an all-in one for now, or would I be better off going with the kit 18-55mm and adding a zoom like the 55-200mm or 55-300mm? My interests are landscapes and wildlife, FYI.
Thank you for your time and advice!
Steve

Steve I would start with the kit lens and after you have some experience under your belt, then you will know which of the lenses will suit your needs. You might also change your mind after using the new camera for a while. Hope this helps. Malcom

It could be ignorance or habit. I bet you wouldn't catch a younger person using "flashbulb."

We still say "dial a number."

I don't recall hearing or seeing the term, though. But then, there's a lot I don't remember.

Jerry41 is your memory going like mine?
