The light patterns shown in these shots are much too contrasty to obtain an effective exposure. Light is your tool, so that puts you in control. Find a spot in the room where the light has less contrast, set your kitty in that spot, wrinkle your nose and snap away. The posted suggestions for shooting RAW will give you greater latitude in post for getting *the shot* you like best. Good luck!
