I’m thinking just Old folks. I’m 70 and could care less how my photos appear when they are blown up so much that they show artifacts. I use Everything to enhance my photography including all the Topaz suites and the Adobe subscription….but if I went pixel peeping I would see strange stuff Everywhere. I use Sony cameras and they are 24 megapixel cameras and I crop extensively so I use software to eliminate noise and such. Is it because your camera is better than mine with the images blown up and you don’t see such artifacts. Or is it important because you sell your images? Or why is it important to you if you’re a retired old guy like me? I print 13X19 images on my Canon Pixel Pro 100 and they look great to me with lots of processing. Don’t think the younger generation who uses Cell Phones for their photography ever heard of Pixel Peeping. Just wondering…

I crop extensively myself and I just can't believe that there are those who claim they don't. I'm a wildlife photographer and even with some of the mega zooms, I find myself needing to crop. So many view cropping as some evil process that the crop boogie man will get you.

I've been MILC for 50 years now. : -)

Use a Leica M camera from film days ... to now ... shooting with a Digital Leica M Monochrome.

The only thing I miss from the film Ms is the wonderful film-winder feel.

Just covered a Party with the digital M and 2 lenses ... 35mm and 75mm

This shot was with a M35/1.4 ASPH V1 I've had for nearly 30 years.

Absolutely beautiful!!!!!

I guess you must miss the clunk cllck every trip, especially when it scares away the wild life you wished to photograph, or annoys the other viewers at a concert, or otherwise draws attention.

I guess the noise wasn't an issue pre mirrorless days. It's funny how we can justify anything we want to purchase......just say "I want a new mirrorless camera", it's okay.

If one is documenting ones life with visual pictures, then everyone has the right to do that. If one is documenting stories of culture and civilization, then I suppose that is street photography. But most people who do think that just taking photos of the street is documenting culture and civilization.

Deep meaning personally and documented for oneself is fine and its called photography(all lowercase letters). Photos that groups of people will say “Oh WOW!” in whatever genre is called PHOTOGRAPHY(uppercase letters).

In my experience over 55 years of shows and presentations, most people are photographers, who want to believe they are PHOTOGRAPHERS.

There are examples of photography and PHOTOGRAPHY here on Ugly. Most of it is the former.

Please, define for me what your interpretation of a PHOTOGRAPHER is?

None of it makes any difference. Most people are stuck in film days anyhow. Most people don’t have any realization of the benefits of digital in taking photos, and in editing. And beyond that, most wanna-bee photographers are stuck in taking pictures of their vacation and calling it art(even if its not their vacation).

Well, I personally don't know the definition of a "wanna-be photographer". Art is in the eyes of the beholder and who am I to criticize or define what someone took the time to photograph. None of us know what inspired a person to take a photograph. If you live long enough, there will be something in your life that will have such deep meaning that a photograph will not be enough expression.

The D850 in question is the final and best full-frame Nikon DSLR they could create. But, this relic has been surpassed by even the entry-level MILC models in terms of newer processors and an overall better shooting process. At 45MP with a number of cutting-edge shooting features, it is the apex DSLR in the Nikon line. As an apex model, and the even more rugged D5/D6 flagship models, these cameras can / should last forever. As 7+ year old designs, though, they're now behind the technology curve. That doesn't make them inferior, just not worth buying new. Only pay 'new' prices for new models, with 'new' features you can't find in any other older model.

Well, I own two D850s, one I purchased used and I recently purchased one new on sale. I realized when I purchased these DSLRs that newer technology was available in mirrorless cameras. I have never been one who felt the need to have the latest and greatest of anything. I prefer time tested quality that satisfies my needs. If the latest and greatest makes you happy, you will ALWAYS be one purchase away.......JMHO.

The success is not something that happens while waiting for your DSLR to fail. No, you create the future by filling your online shopping cart with mirrorless camera equipment.

Paul, you should stop agitating, LOL.

Selling some DSLR gear. Took my D500 in hand and snapped a few pics. Great feeling and sound. That mirror moving up and down brings back fond memories.

Anyone else?

Absolutely, I'm still madly in love with my D850, D5, D4s and D500. Never mirrorless, DSLR all the way.

Bob,

I have a 500CM and one of my film backs needs service. Who would you use to service your Hasselblad?

I have a Hasselblad 501CM and still shoot film (both color and B&W) in it and then scan the negatives on an Epson V850. The Hassy still takes incredible photos. That said, I just purchased a digital back for it, and . . . well, the images are phenomenal. It’s a different style of photography, to be sure, but the results are their own reward.

I have a 500CM, where did you purchase your digital back and was the purchase worth it?

I don't care if it's mirrorless, DSLR, or TouchTone or dial telephone, the D850 is more technology for $2100 than pretty much anything else available today at that price.

And, a mirrorless is not going to render a better image.....it might make capturing easier.
