Though I did not think it was relevant to the question I posted, I will clarify some things given some of the comments. First, it was NOT my fault. I was walking into the entrance of my apartment complex with my camera hanging around my neck. I was, at this point, simply walking. I was far off the road and nearly walking on the grass when I heard a truck coming in. The next thing I knew I was being hit and thrown further into the grassy area. The driver indicated because his truck is so high(industrial-size utility type), he couldn't see me! He also indicated he had to pee, which I should add he didn't mention to the to the cop.

I have a call into a personal injury lawyer who comes highly recommended by my CPA, and I have already been to the ER. I have a very swollen ankle, and I am limping badly, which is also giving me some balance issues going down the steps, off curbs, etc., and I have some other associated pain. I am semi-retired, so I can set my own schedule.

I also just called Photo Tech Repair, a place recommended by B&H. They can evaluate the camera for $80.00!

So, now you have the rest of the story!

Thank you to those of you who answered the question in my post.

Glad you have an attorney, and hope you will be fine. As for the camera, forget repair. It may never be the same regardless of how competent the repair shop is, and you never know what may pop up later as a result. Get yourself some new equipment so there will be no worry about the future with it. Your pain and suffering have a value as well.

Curious guys, educate me here. Why do I need to hire an attorney when the company immediately told me that they would cover any medical expenses as well as my equipment? My CPA has given me the name of an attorney, and I have left her a message, but I guess I am still wondering why it's needed.

Would appreciate any insight here! I seriously just want to heal and get back to life!

Because insurance companies lie through their teeth! They have one goal in mind...not to pay anything if possible. They will talk like they are your best friend in need, but they aren't. It took one minor traffic accident (not my fault and we both had the same national insurance company) for me to find that out the hard way. Ended up costing me thousands of dollars because they didn't pay for medical bills that they said they would. Wouldn't even let me talk to the adjuster about it. Don't talk to them again, and by all means do not sign or agree to anything. Let your attorney do the job for you in your best interest. As for your equipment, replace everything with brand new equal to or better than what you had. Why go through repairs that may not actually fix it or issues that may show up later on when you can't go back to the insurance company to cover them. Stop trying to be "nice" about it because the insurance company certainly isn't going to be, even if they make you think they will.

That would be WAY overkill for me! I'd never even come close to using a quarter of that space.
Price wise ($70-85), the 1TB Passport Ultra drives are QUITE ample for my needs.
My laptop has a 512GB drive in it.
I only use the Passport for travel backup for the laptop.
I will never need 4TB for images when traveling. Never.

At home, stuff on the laptop that I want backed up is copied to the desktop, which is backed up.

Ha! Been hearing that comment since the first IBM's came with a 10MB hard drive. then it was 20, then50, then 100 and it goes on.

Buy what you can afford and you feel comfortable with. Bad things happen to good people, so keep a current backup off site somewhere or subscribe to a cloud service for added protection.

Try uninstalling first. Then go out to the drive with Explorer and see if the folders are still there. If so, then delete the ones for these two apps. Reboot your system and start over with the install.

I have a SIRUI P-326 monopod and I'm quite happy with it. However, I'm thinking about adding a 3-feet attachment to the bottom end. Amazon has several at reasonable prices.

Does anyone have actual experience with:
A. adding feet to existing monopod?
B. a particular brand or model that was either notably good or notably bad?
C. experience with a monopod that has feet, even if it came with them, to suggest that this is a good or bad idea?
D. any "gotchas" to consider that are not immediately obvious?

No, I don't want to use a tripod.

Thanks in advance.

I use a monopod quite a bit because they are lighter and easier to move around with. Sometimes with extra feet. However, I added a safety and enhanced use item to it. I bought a good padded camera strap and attached it to the monopod. I put it around my neck to help with support and to steady it, and it allows me to use both hands when needed without having to lay the camera and monopod down. I can change lenses, make exposure adjustments etc. with relative ease. I also have the camera strapped to the monopod as well, so if anything slips nothing drops. If I need to move or adjust location it can be quickly done. Maybe not for everyone, but works great for me. I have arthritis in my hips and back, so it lessens the weight and reduces the bulkiness of using a tripod. I still use a tripod, but mostly for shots that need even more support and reduced movement such as closeup or low light ones.

I have 3 or 4 card readers, only one is USB-C. What would happen if I plugged one of the other readers into the C slot?

s USB 3.1 faster than USB-C?
USB-C is capable of 40 Gbps, perhaps a bit more, but with protocols other than USB 3. x. USB 3.0 is capable of up to 5 Gbps, USB 3.1 up to 10 Gbps, and USB 3.2 up top 20 Gbps.

Well, if you are familiar with virtual memory on a computer then you know that the operating system uses a portion of the hard drive as if it is memory. It swaps files/data in and out of the virtual memory into the real memory as it is needed. When you turn your system off anything in virtual memory is lost unless it is program files or data that has been saved to the hard drive. In its simplest explanation, unified memory is basically the same thing except that the data in the virtual memory on the hard drive is not lost. To do this the system has the real memory and the virtual memory tied together through the design of the electronics. This is why you can't upgrade it. It is part of the system design and manufacture.

I recently received notice that there are several updates for the R3. I had tried to do that one received prior but didn't know how. I decided to do it, and it actually worked pretty seamlessly. I haven't used the camera since, so I don't know if it got ruined. And I still have 6 updates to do to be totally up to date.

I'm going to be needing my GPS a lot in upcoming days, and I knew there was a map update available. I had done this several times, and although time-consuming, it was pretty simple. So I started in. It stalled at 41% transferred data, and it was taking forever. I left it to grind away overnight, and started in again the next morning when maybe my internet connection would be better. Again, it stopped at about 40%. After several attempts, I started a chat, finally getting to a real person. She was pretty good, and finally determined that the newest map was bigger than my old device could handle. I had two choices, download partial maps or use an SD card. I opted for the SD card, went and bought one, then followed the directions on how to use it. It didn't work. I can't go back to my previous map because it is now corrupted. It won't uninstall, as was suggested to me. So my device is now a piece of expensive worthless plastic! This is why I don't update my cameras! If the same thing were to happen to my camera, I'd be devastated!

The problem isn't updates. It's the manufacturer not controlling them in such a way as to help prevent someone from trying to install an update that isn't meant for that camera or version of camera. A proper update software would first look at the camera info that it can access to see if the update is correct for that camera. No different than trying to install a software or update on your computer that comes back and tells you that it isn't available for your operating system etc.
