I also find Mojave slower and with more short crashes then the previous operating system. I called apple help and they suggested to reinstall

I am also a Viet War Vet. 2 year USAF. what is somewhat alarming is to ask pretty much anyone under 45 who the combatants were in WW2 and few know.

My brother and myself both Viet War Vets. thanks to all who served. Sour things for life for those who dishonor the flag and anthem.

I tried my new P 1000 at wide angle with built in flash at home dinner with family. Its ok and does what I guess I would expect. I have other great cameras and lens and i think the zoom feature is what it is all about. I have another bridge sony RX 10-3 and I think for less then 600 mm zoom the sony is a little better. if you need more, and that is why i bought it, the vibration reduction is very good in my opinion.
I dont think the camera was intended for everything but overall pretty good. It has the same sensor as my i phone so it is somewhat limited compared to say my full frame D 850 which cost 5 times as much when I put a good lens on the nikon.

anyway, it does seem like the menu system is significantly less complicated then another bridge i have. the Sony RX10---3. It also is a very good camera. The menu system is much more extensive and harder to learn. I will keep one of these, most likely the Nikon since I bought it for the zoom more then the other functions. Yes animals do learn from each other but dont have ability library their experience. I dont think this has back button focus but will continue to see about that.

Regarding Ched49.
I use back Button focus on my other interchange lens nikon and want to be consistent so dont want press the wrong focus button but concentrate on composition etc.
Regarding your other response to my question of settings. Of course thoughout everyone's life other then animals who cannot learn except by trial and error. I have always learned from others and then go on from there. It started with reading etc. Of course, everyone will set what works best for them but unless you are an animal you have learned from others first.

I am old but still love photos and cameras. 81 yrs. and still work 2 days week (radiologist). Maybe because we are so visual I seem to learn a lot more from video tutorials then manuals. I have and love Creative.com and lynda.com and they have some great tutorials on cameras and techniques. Anyway i am sure in several weeks some youtube stuff will be available. On one of the youtube now available they say you can focus within 1or 2 cm. I thought that was with the zoom but I guess that was with the 24mm focus. As i zoomed out it seems like anything closer then 10-12 ft. with maximum zoom will not focus. i am sure some one with more knowledge of the physics of optics could explain why. Since I would not understand the explanation anyway, it just seems to be a fact unless my camera copy is out of wack.

Received my copy from B &H. Have searched for suggested settings and there are lots of stuff mainly on the extended zoom capabilities but so far have seen no links on suggested settings.
There is a minimum distance maybe8 or 10 feet that the more extended zooms will not focus, I guess this is expected. I would appreciate any suggestions on sites regarding set up settings etc. thanks.

Air Force 1965-1967. United States and military service very dear to me. I dont understand the insult of kneeling during the anthem. To me their grievances should have other ways to address. I wonder what % of the kneelers or supporters of that demonstration are Veterans. My guess less then 10% but maybe I am wrong. Thanks to all who served. Freedom including the right to "kneel" is not free. Not sure they understand that.

I would like to downsize my GAS. I have several quality lens for my Olympus OMD 1 camera and a little used Nikon D 800e, replaced with a D 850. I use only the D 850, a Sony RX 10-111 and a sony Rx 1000. I plan to offer the olympus OMD- 1 with lens as a unit and the D 800e (without lens). I plan to get the retail price of the from a KEH listing and offer them about 25% less on Ugly hedgehog. Not sure how the actual exchange of money for camera goes. Who sends which first after agreement on price. Does the seller or me send first or how is it done. thanks

Still, i dont think you can walk into KEH and get photo info like you could with retail stores. Someone said there were lots of stores still in Atlanta. I was not aware. The location they named is in the heart of downtown and depending on when you go, it could take a while to get there and park, etc. I miss showcase and even Wold where often there were knowledgeable people at times.
KEH is not set up for walk in info, no showcases etc. Basically a office front. Nice people however.

I have the newer version of the 70-200 2.8f with D 850 and I upgraded (I had first version of 2.8). I wanted the 2.8f over the f4 since a lot of my grandkids stuff-basketball, concerts, ballet etc. no flash allowed. What I need to do is to take pics with adequate shutter stop with 2.8f (indoors) and then go to f4 on same lens and kick up the iso until I get the same shutter speed as taken with 2.8f and see if there is a difference to the naked eye. Most likely some purist with find this not an adequate test-for me it is. If the noise of increased ISO is not unpleasant-maybe i spent a lot of money unnecessarily-I doubt it though.
