Just use a tripod and enjoy, my D5300 is all the camera I'll ever need. Remember that 15 years ago this would be the bleeding edge of what a dslr could do and would have been a pro gear

I have the same lens and sensor for my D-5300, set it to auto ISO and 1/500 ss. If you can't get acceptable results you will need a faster lens

Beautiful set, Jim! Your data indicates you are in western Michigan. This is not the type of shots I would expect from there today.

Indeed, no flowers outside now. While I don't live down with the 'trolls' Lake Michigan can dump real snow

Back in the early 90's I came across an article about iso 3200 color film so I had to try it. Went to Ritz Camera and picked up a roll and stuck in my Minolta Maxxim 7000 to see what it could do after dark. Expensive lesson and never bought another roll. Way to grainy for me.

The sideways shaft is around 1700' long, fairly well lit as you can see with signs explaining what you're looking at. Now that I've discovered the giant game changer (auto iso) I would like to do a repeat using existing light.

I did an unguided tour, this was one of my first attempts at using my D5300 when I was faced with an actual DSLR to shoot with as opposed to a p/s or my dying Minolta 7000i
