I always get them in my FOV far away and as they get closer, dial the zoom in as you pan when they pass! These shots are not cropped I took recently. Nikon D300S 70-300mm

I got A cheep 7.00 tripod from Amazon and mounted A magnet to the shoe and mounted A washer with mounting tape to the glass base so I can take it off for storage. Will not come off when moved.

Can you post a pic of that?

Nice! I'm been trying to come up with an idea for a holder, instead of a hand, what did you use? Did you secure it, or is it just resting on it? Thx Bolton

First, I want to encourage you to keep on trying. Second, go do a proper search for "green flash" of the sun. That way you know what you are looking for. Again, don't not stop trying.

This time it is just lens flare. It is not always easy to capture the green flash - or the even more rare blue flash. I have tried for years without success, but that is not a good reason to stop trying. Your successful capture of a green or blue flash could be just another day away.

True, True!! I lived in South Fl., Bahamas and the Keys for 30 years and still haven't gotten one!! Many, many, many attempts!!! I probably have over a thousand sunset pics over the ocean and not damn one!! : (

You have to be close(r) to the equator and unobstructed view to the horizon. That is lens glare

Quick question, if I want to shoot B&W, is there any dif in doing it PP vs. shooting it with the camera setting. Don't know enough to know if you loose anything if you do if PP. Thx

Unfortunately, loop road isn't dirt anymore. Still cool!! If you want to do the airboat, which is highly recommended, find you a private charter. Do not do the cattlecar rides.
