Just got back from almost a week in La Jolla. It seems that the early mornings are cloudy and it clears up by mid-day. You might want to take that into consideration when planning the day trip. Especially you can plan on some great sunset shots even if the morning is cloudy

Here's the link to an interesting article "The Benefit of Having the Same Name as a Police Officer". One part talks about how you name can impact on the type of speeding ticket.

I had the same problem. My mistake was setting up the image quality option. Originally the JPG quality was basic. I decided to change it to fine.In the image quality menu I selected JPG fine thinking that that would only change the quality of the JPG on card 2. What happened was that it also changed the quality on card 1 from RAW to JPG. When I went back into the image quality menu changed to option to RAW+JPG it worked. Card 1 was again in RAW. Hope this helps

In the settings menu go to "Region & language". Then add Spanish in the language option. After this is done, on the toolbar you can switch the keyboard layout between any of the languages that you added. If you do use stickers make sure that where you place them reflects the Spanish keyboard option that you are using.

I have an English language keyboard that is configured for Spanish. I don't use stickers since until now I've always used a Spanish keyboard. I do sometimes get confused with the non-letter keys. When that happens I temporarily switch to the keyboard's English layout.

Be sure to get there a little bit early to make sure everything is working. If you take your computer make sure that it can attach to the projector. If you use their computer make sure that it run the program in which you have your presentation -- including the version of the program. It is a good idea to take a USB as a backup.

If you have an account in the cloud, put your camera and equipment info in a file that you can upload to your cloud account. That way it can be accessed on any devise.

Great picture. It reminded me that my Dad made a composite of all our graduation pictures -- including his and my mothers. If you have all the graduation pictures it might be fun to do the same thing.

Go to your local Catholic book store or some place similar and get some stickers of the Virgin. Put them on anything you want to protect from theft, even your camera if you can find a sticker small enough to not interfere with the camera functions. It is amazing how much protection that will give. The criminals there will murder kidnap, deal drugs, etc. but they are afraid to harm anything religious. And of course try to stay in the relatively safe areas. Really sad, the country has lots of friendly, hard-working people and beautiful landscapes, but the crime and government corruption keep them down. Wife and I spent some time there as missionaries for our church and saw all that.

Give me a break.
This gives an erroneous vision of the country.

Is it time to upgrade to NikonD850 or Fuji (or Sony) mirrorless? Any tips re camera safety in Mexico?
Thanks,

You shouldn't be no overly concerned. Just follow the same precautions that you'd take walking around with camera equipment. I have had no problems.

One thing that you should be aware of if you are flying out of Mexico City. Going through security you will have to take your camera and lens out of your bag if you plan to carry them on board. I understand that there is also enhanced security procedures for flights to the U.S. making the check-in take even longer.

If you take the pictures you are not in them! That's the issue.

I went to the UK last Aug. Nobody asked me if I had any money with me to be able to support myself. While I have never heard of a Declaration Fee if you don't have a return ticket you may be asked a lot of questions, including how you plan to support yourself while in the UK.

I have both Photos (Mac laptop) and Affinity available for post processing. I do use Photos for cropping and light adjustment. However, I am at a loss with Affinity. I like to take pictures of cloud formations over the mountains west of me, but there is an offending telephone pole there. I am sure there is a way with Affinity to erase the pole and wires but can't seem to find it. I admit I hate working at a computer and easily get frustrated. Is there a simple way to make the pole disappear? Thank you for any help. I have tried to move my position and zooming but by the time i do, the moment is gone.

It is really easy with Affinity. Use the Inpainting Brush tool to "paint" over the pole and wires. I did it and will try to post the picture so you can see how it looks without the pole.
