I like One or Four. What differentiates bull elk are their antlers. This one has a magnificent rack!
Wonderful Photo! Great job!!!
It could be worse (better?). Afreind of mine just inherited his brothers Canon 7S with a f1:0.95! Check that lens out! Thought I might stir the pot a little.
First, summer is the rainy season. It may rain almost every day. Be sure your equipment and you are well prepared, but it is warm. Change you money at the hotel desk, not the airport. You can drink the water just about everywhere.
If driving in the mountains, be aware that portions of the roads may have disappeared overnight. There are earthquakes there. Outside of San Jose, you will find the country is quite clean. Directions are different, they use something like 300 meters west and 100 meters south of some landmark. They do not use street numbers much at all. Unless you're birding, you probably won't need the 200-500. Guides are very helpful in the national parks as they know how to spot the wildlife in the upper canopy. In Manuel Antonio, beware of the white-faced monkeys. They will try to steal anything they can. You can get very close to them and are fascinating. Luckily, wildlife is everywhere as well as many photo ops. It can be cool in the mountains so a sweater or light jacket will be helpful.
You will love the breakfast buffets if staying at hotels/resorts. I highly recommend La Paz Waterfall Gardens/Peace Lodge if you get a chance, about 1 hour from San Jose. Having been there over 25 times, I driven all over the country and always enjoy the drives. PM me if you need any hotel recommendations.
Here is the website for the Tourist Board. All updated Covid info will be there. The country is pretty open.

Hi Ken, the end of May should be the start of their "Green" season (meaning rainy). However, there are several ecosystems with a variety of weather. If you're spending time in the cloud and rain forests I would take the Z6 as it seems to be better weather sealed. It can be very humid and I've had issues with condensation in the mornings. You should check out ways to prevent that issue. There is so much wildlife there, finding good shots shouldn't be problem. Some will be very close, some not of close. The good thing about photographing sloths is that you never have to be in a hurry! You can drink the water anywhere and it's a very safe country. Very friendly people. The guides are excellent at spotting birds, Good luck and enjoy!
According to very recent stats from the CDC, the vaccinated have a much lower infection rate, it's much less severe and hospital stays are shorter. You can still catch the virus, but there is very little to worry about. If you're not vaccinated, well...good luck!
I am a buyer for the 850 $2000.
I can do PayPal today, but a little later.
Please advise.
Thanks, Ralph
I had an 18-270mm (Nikon mount) that failed close to the end of the warranty period. I sent it to Tamron and was told by then the damage was caused by "shock". Never happened, and there wasn't a scratch on it. I wound up giving it to my local (excellent) camera repair shop for parts. I never purchased another Tamron lens and still would have a hard time doing so now. I certainly cannot recommend them!
