I knew something was up. I had been waiting almost 6 mos. to get my Nikon D7000 body only and a 28-300 lens. They got the D7000 lens in and charged my credit card but not the 28-300 lens. So I told them back then to take it off as what good was it going to do me with a camera with no lens; which they did. Then 3 mos. later I tried to order the new 18-300 lens and Wolf kept saying it would not be available until Sept. or Oct. Now I knew by reading my Ugly Hedgehog site that everyone else was getting them. So I finally got fed up and order them both online from (I'm almost embarrassed to say) Wal-Mart’s of all places. I got them both in two days. Why did I get them from there? I knew if I didn’t like them I could just take them back and get a refund immediately without any hassles. And I have been very happy since then. Now it all makes sense. I had planned on taking lessons from Wolf. So now it looks like I will have to look some place else for those too.

Yes I know; everyone on this site is so helpful. One of my first questions I asked when I first joined was should I get a Nikon or Cannon. Oh that was a fun night… Ha! Then I asked about the type of lens I should get for the kind of photos I liked to take. And now I look forward to all the wonderful things I will learn on UH, just by asking.

I also have the 18-300mm nikkor, and even though I not that ecperienced I do like this lens. I also have others that I am trying out and the macro tamron seems ok to me also

I am also not very experienced. I mean I have taken pictures on and off over the years but now I want to get a little more serious. I just bought the (body only) for the Nikon D7000. Now I need a decent lens. I was looking at the Tamron 18-270? before Nikon brought this one out. But once this came out it seems perfect for me. I'm glad you like it.

Does anyone have the 18-300mm Nikon/Nikkor lens yet? It seems like a perfect lens for those of us that only want one lens for the majority of the time.

I just purchased classroom in a book for CS5 for about $35.00. It comes with a CD. It will take you step by step. I loved my first one I purchased for Photoshop 2.0? a few years back.

Yeah the 28-300mm seems to be in short supply.

Yes it seems so. Isn't that the way, when you really want something badly it always takes forever.

Why not buy another inexpensive lens they have in stock you know you will use like a 50mm they are not too expensive.

If my old Tamron lens doesn't work I might have to consider something like that, but trying not too since I've already spent more... than I should have.

i would not pay 2000 a year for insurance,i would bank it for new stuff

I thought that was the cost of the camera and lens, not the insurance.

Yes, it was for the camera not the insurance. I did call AllState today and it seems that they would give me a rider under my home insurance for an additional $50.00 a year. That was a estimate for a camera and lens up to $3,000. I asked them would that cover say if I dropped it and broke it and they said yes.

I am trying to decide if I should pay for camera insurance for my new Nikon D7000 and 28-300 Nikon lens. I would love to hear what everyone thinks. I'm usually an insurance kind of person, but with the camera and lens coming up to $2,000 plus, it's really a tough decision. The sales rep, said at a minimum I should insure the camera. I know nothing about camera insurance. Looking forward to your advice.

Judyslife51, look up "Insure or not to insure". It was a thread started a few weeks ago. There's plenty of opinions and information there that you may find helpful. I too have the D7000, and it is insured.

Ok, here you go. Thanks for the 3rd time to night. You have been a wealth of info. Now do I leave the info in the box or I delete it before I quote reply. Ha! Let's see if I get this right.

I thought about that, and I was pretty sure that if it got stolen out of my home or car it would be covered, but I wasn't sure about what if I just dropped it. I will call my insurance company first thing Monday morning. Thank you.
