I did some hand coloring on the prints I made back when I started doing my own printing (late 60s). They have been lost in moves through the years. It was an enjoyable exercise if I remember. It gave the prints a look like an old family portraits.

Great photograph. I like it.

But I don't understand, with all of the Help Wanted sighs all across our great land why would someone stand on a corner trying to get a job. Why not follow through on the Help Wanted signs.

Dennis

Getting through the hiring process for most jobs is a nightmare these days. Multiple interviews by multiple people, any one of which can give a candidate a fatal thumbs down, screening tests, etc. Most of the folks you see like that guy have a background issue, an education issue, are homeless, etc. They are looking for any job, a subsistence job, just enough work to get their next meal or two and a few bites for their dog. It hurts my heart to see people in that situation.

Off topic, but I think it’s time we stopped the “X, formerly known as Twitter” moniker - it’s annoying.

I do some technical writing for my son in Australia. A few days ago I e-mailed him an article about an obscure engineering tool. A few days later there was pop-up ad on UHH for this tool.

Yesterday on Google, I researched an obscure species of hardwood for a woodworking project. This morning there was a pop-up ad for it on UHH.

Could someone have access to my personal e-mails and Google searches?

The sad state of affairs is that the youth of today are historically ignorant of a lot of things NOT superficial ! Look at the interviews of Young folks on the street who can't even tell you how many states are in the US. The majority of young folks don't have a clue and are just led by the nose. A lot of young folks are spoiled because they are the pampered generation and don't have a clue about those that gave EVERYTHING !

I believe those young folks that are ignorant of commonly known facts are cherry picked from numerous interviews to support the interviewer’s point, agenda, or claims. There will always be those among us, regardless of age, that just don’t pay attention.

Nice photo of a busy dog wrangler!

I read somewhere a fellow parlayed his dog walking gig into a $200,000/year income stream.

Isn't there already a problem with salt water seeping into ground water due to the primary aquifer's over-use?

COVID sent many east coast city dwellers to northern New England, resulting in steep increases in home prices. From NYT: "In every Maine county except one, 'the average house price is unaffordable to the average income household,' according to a report by the state housing authority." That affordability is also a problem here in Podunk, TN. Housing prices and rents are just out of hand.
