If you go to Estes Park go over the mountain and stop at Grand Lake which is a nice town. The views will be spectacular during the drive over and there are Elk walking around in Estes Park daily. I lived in Colorado for 21 years and it's beautiful state.

Everything comes up on ebay. Anything bought used on ebay is one less sale of a new item for the manufacturers. .

I'm not sure this is true as some people run about one release behind because of the huge saving of buying used off of EBay. These days you can also buy new off of EBay. Just like I did last month when I bought a new Canon 7D Mark II for $1037 dollars shipped. I just bought a mint Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5/5.6L IS lens off of EBay that is suppose to be delivered later today. I got a good deal on it at $800 verses the cost new of this lens and even better price than the new Mark II version (which is better) but the first will meet my needs. I'm not a professional Photographer and I don't make money off of my images. They just have to be good enough for me.

I enjoy Photography with my Canon DSLR and lens kit. My two daughters have Canon DSLR's and decent lens and they never get used anymore. Why, because they are satisfied with pictures from their phones that they can put on Facebook as soon as they take them.

I would concur that a full frame body is not feasible and that your body will do the job. I would get better lens with your money as that would be an upgrade to your system. The Canon EF 75-100mm lens are not a very good lens no matter what version you have. My Niece has the same body as you and the same lens. I bought her an older Canon EF 100-300mm f4.5-5.6 USM for less than $100 on EBay and it's a much better lens than the 75-100mm. For you landscape pictures you might want to buy the 24mm f2.8 STM (Pancake) prime lens.

I've eaten at the Ozark Café many times when I ride my Honda 1800 VTX Trike north out of Russellville. Hwy 7 is a beautiful ride on a Motorcycle probably only surpassed by the Pig trail (HWY 23) in Arkansas.

I shoot mostly wildlife and occasionally landscapes and I've bought the Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS version one in near mint condition. I'm also keeping my Canon 70-200mm f2.8L IS lens and my Canon 300mm f4L IS lens. I do my photography for myself and so I don't make any money doing it. I fact I won't sell my Canon EF 400mm f5.6 L until after I have the new 100-400mm for a few months and use it and see if I'm happy. I shoot people pictures of the great grandkids and people I'm around also and I use my EF 24-105mm f4L IS for that.

I want to thank everyone for their comments

Over the years I built up my Canon Lens Kit and I have these 3 lens a Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS, Canon EF 300mm f4L IS, and a Canon 400mm f5.6 L. I'm thinking of buying the Canon EF 400mm f4.5-5.6L IS lens and getting rid of the three I mentioned above. This would make my main lens kit having two less of the expensive lens. My zoom lens kit would than be Canon EF 17-40mm f4L, Canon EF 24-105mm f4L IS, Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM. I'm wondering if this would be a good move for me because it looks like it would be a good move. I have other lens in my lens kit like a EF 100mm f2.8L IS macro lens, EF 85mm f1.8.

Advice wanted on the Pro's and Con's ???

Both of these lens were reviewed by ken Rockwell and he does a pretty good job of reviewing both of them.

[quote=royden]Hi Gene51, I'm a bit confused. The label on first chart is missing. You mention "optically solid lens" in first sentence. I'm thinking a 75-300. I think there are 3 versions. You mention "el cheapo" later and then you say "yes the 75-300 is awful and the 70-300 is actually pretty good. Which 70-300? Again, there are a few versions.
Sorry wrong quote:
I was talking about the Canon EF 100-300mm f4.5-5.6 USM is the lens and this is what I was going to add: Canon has lens correction software available for this lens if your camera accepts it. Even without it this is a very good lens and takes great pictures and for less than $100 is a good deal.

Quite frankly I would look for a used Canon EF 100-300mm 4.5-5.6 USM as they are not made anymore but are available on EBay for around $100 or less. This lens is sharper than the 75-300mm lens and they have the best USM motor for faster focusing speed. I own a bunch of L lens and I still have this Canon EF 100-300mm lens I mentioned because it's sharp, has great color rendition, and is light and works great at zoo's and sporting events.

I've shot Canon since my film days and over the years I've put together a great lens kit so for me changing isn't an option plus my Canon 7D and Canon 7D Mark II work great for me so I'm not changing.
