Back in the days of film photography was manipulated today there is a fear of AI. Restrictions of AI is wrong. Some photographers take it to the extreme but photographers have a right to process their photography the way they choose. The sky is not falling so stop restricting modern photography if you don’t like AI don’t use it.

You 50D will be excellent. JPEG your cameras computer process the photo removes pixels and renders a good picture. RAW captures image as you exposed it. Now you must post process it, I use Lightroom. You are able to adjust shading, colors, exposure and much more. Your results will make jpeg look inferior.

I would be more concerned with sensor damage. Lens should be fine just don’t face it on sun for hours

I look at photography as painting with light. Watching how the light of the day plays with the surrounding any thing that draws attention l photograph it.
