1929 got a bad rap. Certainly the stock market (which was the epitome of irrational exuberance) went down significantly then, but the REAL problem was the government response that followed....

Exactly. The other problem of the 30's was the unemployment. If that happens again there will be far worse issues than what was seen in the 30's. People survived better then due to a higher percentage of those living/working on farms and ranches. The only civilizations that have survived were nomadic.

Thank you for that kind suspicion Dennis. Trying to be a nice LADY is something I have to do.
When I was 10, my hero (my dad) sat me down and told me, "Every little girl can grow up to be a woman. It takes a special little girl to grow up to be a LADY. That's what I want you to be."
He been gone quite a while now, but I still try not to disappoint him.

And I am sure he likes what he sees. He knows.

Gal thanks for posting these beautiful photos. It reminds me of similar scenes where I grew up in the late 50's and early 60's before all the land grabbers turned the open rangeland into houses, shopping centers and car lots.

I was born and raised in Thousand Oaks, CA. It WAS beautiful. Now it is urban sprawl. One only has to watch all the early TV westerns and you will see Thousand Oaks in its prime. All the cattle used in shows like Rawhide, Bonanza, Virginian, Gunsmoke, and big block western movies belonged to my Uncle. The ranch he ran was tens of thousands of acres and has been converted to some of the most expensive urban real estate in Southern California. UGH!

I long to live in places that look like what you just posted. I would feel like I had gone home.

Thanks again.

Photography is like life... full of choices. We stand on our own each time we make the choice to photograph something and perhaps customize it to our own taste. The operative word is "our"... meaning it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Most hope our work goes along with the mainstream who would like it. But then if everyone likes it, that photo may not be that unusual and eye grabbing. Challenging ourselves and our minds to see beyond what is in front of us can lead to some fantastic photos and videos. That is done in the movie business all the time.

Tom I can hear them running in my head. It looks like I could reach out and touch their paint. Thanks for the morning view.

Held up pretty good usually due to good focusing. Most of my wildlife photos are large crops & sometimes HUGE crops with smaller birds. Have fun.

I am looking forward to more dabbling with the 800 and also the Z TCs. I have used the 2X TC and was surprised at how well it worked with the 800 PF lens.
