Why don't you want to pay the extra $5 or $6 for a fresh roll of film?
BTW, 9 rolls of Panatomic X just went for $103.50 plus shipping, on Ebay.
The roll of 40 speed was gifted to me. I normally shoot Ilford Pan F 50 on my TLR.
Some fresh black and white rolls are around $5 - $6 a roll around here.
Even if you take it to a "private lab" the cost of developing and scanning is less than $30. That's a lot less than a Medium Format digital camera - which isn't really Medium Format just bigger than full frame.
I'm using an old beat up completely manual Yashica Mat LM without a working light sensor.

I would try a test roll, and adjust from there. What kind of film is it? I don't recall a 40 speed B&W film from back then.

I acquired through a friend 40 speed black and white negative film that had been kept in cold storage all these years.
Should I use 40 ASA or ?
Any advice is welcome.
I'm also looking at upgrading from SLR's and have been going back and forth like the OP. Is there a difference in the kit lenses between the 5600 and the 5500? What makes the 5600 cost $300 more with what appears to be essentially the same kit?
Thanks!
Old time film photographer here who loved low speed films (Kodachrome 25 & 64, Fujichrome 50, and the old wonderful Kodak Panatomic X 32 B&W) and is now fooling around with Digital Film. :)
I take mostly scenic landscape photos, anything interesting architecturally, and what I call the interplay between light and dark.
Thanks for having me here.
