I've been a reader on your site for about a month. It has been so helpful, so thanks to all who contribute. I recently retired and rewarded myself with a Nikon D500. I'm hoping to buy a zoom lens so that I can photograph sporting events, inside (track meets, basketball games) and outside (baseball and track meets). I was advised to buy the Nikon 70-200m f/2.8E, as it would be best for the indoor photography. I'm in no hurry to buy this, as I'm still learning so much about the D500. Will that 70-20mm lens ever go on sale? I've followed B & H and Adorama, but their prices have remained constant. I notice that 42nd St Photo is selling it for $200 less, but I'm unsure of their track record.
Any advice that the readers can provide would be appreciated.

Be cautious of anyone selling Nikon gear for less than the the major players, Nikon products are price restricted and many others sell grey market which will not have a USA warranty or be able to be repaired should you have an issue. Below are links to info on gray and a list of Nikon US Authorized dealers. 42nd Street is not on the list.

What a lovely photo, and thank God you are ok. A good reminder to all of us to listen to our bodies when they are telling us something is not right and to take care of ourselves...and each other. Feel better soon

I was at Lake Wallenpaupack in the Poconos, and saw this little girl feeding ducks. She reminded me of my girl at that age. Her Mom was sitting nearby, and I asked if she would mind my taking a few photos. Mom didn't respond, so I spoke up and asked again. Nothing. The little girl turned around, smiled and signed to her Mom who smiled at me and nodded. She said "Hi, my Mom is deaf but I asked and she doesn't mind" then she turned back to feeding the ducks again.

It's photos like these, that bring me back to a moment and a feeling, that I love so much. They aren't technically superb or even good in many cases, but I love them. I really want to grow enough to have each frozen memory be technically beautiful and bring me back to that place and that moment.

How in the world did you manage that. This is downright lovely.

It was absolutely unintentional...the result of poor reflexes and a slow camera :-)

Welcome to the forum.
Don't be overwhelmed, just go shoot to see how what you do works out. You'll get there.
You can always delete.

Thank you!

Welcome. My wife is also a less than confident shooter. I have found for her that if I take her out to practice street photography, it has helped her to gain confidence and strength in her photography. If you have someone that would venture out with you and your camera to try some street photography, it may help with your confidence as well. Just go to festivals, art fairs, or just a busy mall and shoot people and things that interest you.

Shooting people is what I love, that's a great idea. Thank you!

How did you get both of them to blink at the same time? Super shot...

I like your take on it...makes it intentional instead of accidental :-)

I'm new to the forum and am loving the community. What a welcoming group of people.
My name is April, I've been a passionate enthusiast forever and am working to find time to shoot more.
I have worked for camera retailers forever, which has always fed my passion :-)
As a less than confident shooter, I really appreciate the feedback I'm seeing from the group and am looking forward to using it to get stronger.
Thanks to all of you in the group, I look forward to seeing your shots and sharing some of my own!
