Right click - select Task Manager - if it does not open with the tabs showing, select the more details arrow at the bottom - when the window opens with the tabs showing, then select the Start Up tab.

I went in to Setting/App/Startup and i have only the bare minimum activated. There was one that I turned off called Windows Security Notification Icon and rebooted. It is gone. I have turned back on the Windows Security Notification Icon switch, rebooted and will see if it comes back.

A month or two ago I had the same problem and I don't remember how I got rid of it then. So it's gone now and thank you both for responding. I will monitor this and let you know if it returns.

I've ran Avira, CCleaner and Malwarebytes with no luck. I've even rebooted.

This has appeared on my monitor and is always on top of any screen I pull up. Any ideas as to what it is, how I acquired it and how to get rid of it?

My dad had a crystal radio he when he was a kid. It consisted of a flat box with a piece of crystal on it. You had to have a wire ground and a wire antenna but no battery. There was a very thin metal wire he called a cat whisker. The crystal and cat whisker had a glass dome over it. You had to remove the glass dome then moved one end of the cat whisker around the crystal to find a station. It also had connectors for a head set.
He mounted it on the handle bars of his bicycle and say he had the first vehicle with a radio on it. The only problem was that he had to stop and ground the radio to listen to it.
I searched Google but couldn't find a picture of it. Wish I had it to day to give to my grandson.

I came out of the grocery store and went to my vehicle and it wouldn’t respond to touch or to the “fob.” And, I walked around attempting same. And, I looked at the driver-door side panel where the code could be entered by hand. I knew it was my car because I just had washed it. This is where I normally park.
I started to think how I was going to get back home where I have another fob. Then, I pressed the ‘urgent” button and started hearing a honking sound a few parking lanes away. There was my vehicle just where I left it. Oh! No. Whew! I looked into the interior of the “wrong” car and could see things not mine. Then, I knew. Whew!
I’m not telling my family members because they think I am wealthy and will seize this opportunity to have me committed. Ha!

Joke’s on me.

Had a similar situation in the 90's. I was in Home Depot and came out with an arm full of stuff. Got to my blue/purple 1996 Ford Explorer. I'm sure everyone remembers the Blue that looked purple. I slipped the key into the lock and it wouldn't turn so I put my items down and tried it again. After about 30 seconds of not being able to get it unlocked the window lowered. The windows were just tinted enough I didn't see the owner inside.
Beyond him was a van and my Explorer was beyond that. Definitely embarrassing.

I had one since I had enough hair to grow one. I shaved it off for the first time after a year of marriage in my late 20's. My wife didn't say anything but wouldn't sit on the same sofa as me until I grew it back.

An Obituary printed in the London Times.....Absolutely Dead Brilliant!!

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who
has been with us for many years.

No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were
long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as
having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- And maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend
more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children,
are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy
charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens
suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher
fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the
job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly
children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental
consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could
not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have
an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses;
and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a
burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to
realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in
her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death,
-by his parents, Truth and Trust,
-by his wife, Discretion,
-by his daughter, Responsibility,
-and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 5 stepchildren;
- I Know My Rights
- I Want It Now
- Someone Else Is To Blame
- I'm A Victim
- Pay me for Doing Nothing

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing. . .

About a year ago I bought a new laptop. Several months ago it started acting strange. After talking with a friend who had been hacked in the past, I ran some cleaning software that he recommended which found some Rootkit files and others which were removed. I've run two antivirus programs along with CCleaner, and Malwarebits. My compute got better but not to my satisfaction. When the latest Microsoft update was automatically installed the overall operation of Windows improved but I am still nervous. I want to wipe the hard drive and reinstall everything for a clean system. Windows 10 offers 'Fresh Start'. Is this the same as doing a clean install?
I know just enough about computer to really get myself in trouble.
Any and all feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

The origonal battery is still good. No probems.

Same code on mine but it did fit better in the past.

I only have the charge that came with the camera.

You make sense. I think I'll recycle it at the landfill.

Thanks fellow UHHers.

Hi to all UHH's!
I've been reading UHH for years but its is my first post.

Around 2009 I purchased my first DSLR, Nikon D5000 kit. Wasn't enamored with the lens but used it anyway. I purchased a second after market battery (generic, no name but had good reviews on Amazon)as I spend extended days out in the woods during the winter and hadn't had any problems with it. I purchased a Nikon 28-300 and I'm in Austria now. The tempature has been below freezing(Teens to low twenties, I've been in lower) when I'm out. I put the after market battery in the Nikon for the first time today in over a year and it's a little sticky going in and out, and you have to tap the camera a little to get it out.

Has anyone else had this problem before?
Should I not put it in the camera at all?
Should it be replaced?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!
