Thank you. For some reason I was not considering that the two were unequal in size and shape and the percentages apply to the common overlap.

Not a problem. One would think there is only one color space, it's interesting to find out there are more than one. But as we saw, the overlap is massive.

By the way, my bet is that Dim governor Northam is in the KKK costume. It's just so appropriate for a Dim.

The Dims are conflicted on this one. Northam is a typical leftist; a racist and KKK wannabe. He does remind people that the KKK is a Dim offshoot. On the other hand he's full on for abortion at any time, even after birth. So the Dims want to hide their racist KKK heritage and get rid of him, but they also want to keep him because abortion any time.

I think their desire to hide their racist KKK heritage will win out in the end and they will demand his resignation.

It's not an insult; it's a realistic description of you that we get from your posts.

Oh, and by the way, all 28 members of NATO support the withdrawal from the treaty.

Her DNA test showed that she was not in any way Cherokee or Native American and now that she is running for president in 2020, she finally admitted that she lied all along and has apologized to the Cherokee Nation leaders, according to CNN.

She's obviously trying to get that hoax behind her and not have it come up later during the campaign. Of course, if by some bizarre alignment of planets she becomes the Dims nominee, I sure PDJT will bring it up again. And again. In fact, he'll probably bring it up before that occurs as it will probably never happen.

Now, if she could only learn to drink a beer. (I wonder if she could get lessons in English from John Kerry when she tries to get a hunting license.)

In another hit to Schitt's (non-existent) credibility, it was revealed yesterday that the 3 phone calls placed by Don Trump Jr. to blocked numbers before and after that famous Trump tower meeting, were not to PDJT as Schitt said, but to business associates of Don Jr.

Another lie from Schitt to hit the fan.

It is my understsnding that only Congress can alter or void a treaty.
Perhaps Ms Pelosi needs to give Trump another public spanking.

Let me see. This treaty was signed with the USSR. The USSR no longer exists. Russia does not abide by the treaty. There is no reason for us to observe the treaty especially since China was not and still is not, part of the treaty and they are doing whatever they want. Tell me again, why we should be the only ones observing the treaty limitations.

Understood. Please read what was in my post. How could that statement as written be correct?

Ok. I think you are asking about the fact that DCI-P3 covers almost all of Adobe RGB and that Adobe RGB covers a little less of DCI-P3.

Obviously the two color spaces are not identical but are quite close. The DCI-P3 color space is somewhat bigger than the Adobe RGB color space.

Please explain, I’m confused.

We're talking color space here or gamut.

Just like for other things, there are multiple standard for defining a color space. (That's the fun things with standards, there are so many to choose from.)

There have been several discussions about using TVs instead of monitors for post processing. The case against doing that was based on the color gamut when someone suggested TVs did not have anywhere near the color space of Adobe RGB and as such are useless for post processing.

A little bit of research showed that TVs, for example the Samsung Q6 that I recently bought, have a very wide gamut, rivalling the one supported by monitors. The color space used by the TVs is called DCI-P3. And as I said earlier, it covers virtually all of the Adobe RGB color space. As I explained, it's not a 1 to one match but it's very close, especially DCI-P3 over Adobe RGB. The portions that are not covered by DCI-P3 and not available to printers anyways (but that's my understanding, which may be incorrect.)

I have been using a 40" Samsung TV as my desktop monitor fed by an HDMI connection from the NVIDIA video card. After the wonderful and comprehensive topic of matching colors from subject to printer I am considering adding a second monitor better suited to post-processing of my Nikon 850's .NEF pictures. Keeping in mind that I am not a professional by any stretch just a serious amateur who takes pictures from time to time.

My first tour of B&H found monitors from ultra-expensive ($2500) to several hundred dollars. As Bill pointed out a monitor that can display the full Adobe 1998 color gamut is perfect, however the price is beyond giving up my lunch money, and perhaps only required for the professional.

Your thoughts and recommendations as to a specific monitor that can be tuned and calibrated for photo editing.
I have been using a 40" Samsung TV as my desk... (show quote)

Which Samsung TV do you currently use?

I recently upgraded my 5-year old Seiki 4K TV with a new 49 inch Samsung Q6 TV. It reproduces 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. The DCI-P3 color space covers 90some% of the Adobe RBG color space and Adobe RGB covers 80-some % of DCI-P3. I "understand" that the areas of Adobe RGB that are not covered by DCI-P3 are not usable by printers anyway. Happy to be corrected here if I'm wrong. Also, I believe that DCI-P3 covers all of sRGB color space.
