It's a mixture of Lard, peanuts, corn meal, and other stuff. I think the full name is Jim's Birdacious Bark Butter. We buy it at Wild Birds Unlimited. I'm sure if you google "bark butter" you'll find numerous recipes to make your own.
I've been pretty excited over the new species of woodpeckers we've had in our yard recently. Yesterday we got another one. A cute, little Downy Woodpecker showed up and proved that Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers aren't the only woodpeckers that like Bark Butter.
Isn't that bird also referred to as a Myrtle Warbler?
I think there are two varieties of Yellow Rumped Warbler, Myrtle and Audubon. The Myrtle has a whitish throat and the Audubon has a yellow throat. This must be a Myrtle.
Took a few shots of this Ladderback Woodpecker that's been hanging around with his Missus lately. Until I got the image into my computer I never noticed how much the top of his head looks like the bandana do-rag a friend of mine used to wear when we were on our motorcycles
On the back porch playing with my new (used) 500mm lens and I watched this Black Crested Titmouse facing downwind with his feathers being ruffled. As I took his picture he initiated a launch. Little birds sure do move quick. This is one of a set of pics I took with my ISO maxed out because the evening before I had been so bored I was trying to take pictures in near-darkness and forgot to check my settings in the morning. Thank goodness for Neat Image.
