Just throwing this out as a possibility because it happened to me. If you have your equipment in a air conditioned space and then go into a warm humid ambient space fog will form as soon as you pull your lens cover off.

I think you have a great opportunity to use shadows in your captures of gates, etc. like others have said “golden hours” will provide better light and very long, pronounced shadows. Add some bright color or back drop for even more drama and interest.

I agree. The smart phone generation doesn’t read books for fun. All their information is electronic. Save your money and spend some hands on time with her and her camera.

I may be wrong but I don't believe Amish people care to be photographed.

Copied from the Lancaster, PA visitor website:

"Just as the Amish do not carry personal photographs or display them in homes, they do not want others to take photographs of them. Many visitors to Lancaster County, find it difficult not to do so. Yet, if there is one that appears to frustrate the Amish, it is tourists attempting to take their picture. Please follow our lead in taking no photographs in which faces are recognizable. Refraining from taking photos is more than just a courtesy; it's a respect for our Amish neighbors and their way of life."

Use Sony's play memories app. Your A6000 sets up its own hotspot so the connect to it via wifi with your iPhone or iPad. Very easy to use and you can upload 100 photos at a time.

I have noticed that some of the old standbys have been spending less and less time here. Wonder why...

I try to sit on the upper deck if there is one. I use an 18-105, no filter. I also recommend rapid exposures as things happen fast. The second shot you can see the humpback's eye checking me out!

That's why cell phones are so popular. No fuss, whip it out of your pocket and take a shot or video. Not saying they take the place of DSLR's but are so handy and user friendly.

You are mistaking the 2 meanings of a hater. I would suggest you're being labeled as the informal definition by disagreeing and critical. Sometimes people don't like being called out when they're just trying to be helpful. Oh and by the way, I would be considered a hater in the classical sense when it comes to Hillary, Bill, the Bamster, and Chuck Schumer and wish them no harm just wish they'd go away too. There is common ground!

hat·er
ˈhādər/
noun
a person who greatly dislikes a specified person or thing.
"a man hater"
informal
a negative or critical person.
"she found it difficult to cope with the haters"
