How many 35mm slides would each box hold?

Depends upon the mount thickness. My cardboard mounts are about 1.14mm, plastic about 1.3mm, and Gepe glass mounts are about 3.07mm thick. Kodak used to make metal-framed glass mounts that were considerably thicker.

I thought these forums were here so members could draw on the experiences of others and that is the reason for me asking what I did. Asking others that have the same interests sometimes give ideas or information that you may not have thought of. I have been into photography for a little over fifty years but I am always interested in getting input from others.

Some folks learn quickly, others not so fast.

It's also amazing how many people call them thumb drives (the manufacturers call them flash drives).

Just because someone doesn't have the sense to call it what it is doesn't mean that no one else knows what is meant.

What does the manual list? (Should be under "Accessories.")

Not to hijack the post but what is the maximum size card you guys have successfully used in the d850? I think for me it is 120gb.

Nikon manuals list the brand, type and size cards they have tested and recommend.

Thanks to all who responded, or, rather all but one troll whose inane comment received the attention it deserved, to my question about thumb drives. DWU2 and CHG Canon were spot on in their advice about how to view images on my thumb drive. I followed their advice and the images now automatically come up when I activate the thumb drive. The replies proved to be very serendipitous as from the answers received I learned a second given, previously unknown to me, that a thumb drive was not the best place available to store data and images. I had never seen this caveat before, not even in the propaganda that comes with a thumb drive. Perhaps someone will now post the reason why thumb drives are not suitable for long-term storage.

Flash drives should be as safe as any storage device. I could find no negatives. Some information here:
https://www.google.com/search?q=Flash+Drive+for+photo+storage%3F&rlz=1C1SQJL_enUS873US873&oq=Flash+Drive+for+photo+storage%3F&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j0i22i30l9.2142j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Edit: Another search brought this up:
USB Flash Drives
Their small size makes them attractive for storing and sharing many images at once. As a long-term storage solution, however, they're not the best option because they can easily be damaged or lost, and the information they hold is too easy to erase. Sep 11, 2020
I would think that with proper care they shouldn't be easily damaged, lost, or erased.

I have this printer for about 3 years now and I started having problems recently as follows:
1. Printer is offline - I have unplugged both power and computer cables several times with no change.
2. Before the offline issue, it will only print about half of the image. I have replaced all cartridges.
3. When I run the "Diagnose and Repair" shows no connection with the printer.
Please advise, Thank you. augieg27.

How could I forget to focus??
I did, 7 times, with attempts of shooting a small family gathering at my home. Everyone wanted me to shoot the group with me (of course in the photo). I set up the tripod, set shutter release for 3 seconds to give me time to place myself in the photo. Each time I reviewed the photo it was terrible. Not once did I figure out that I had not focused by pushing the AEL button. (I set the camera for BBF about 2.5 years ago). DUH! DUH! DUH! So, we have no photo of the group gathering. Might not have another opportunity for years.

Anyone else have DUH! experiences similar to this one.

Life is still fun. I simply smile at myself for all my "DUH" moments.
Stay safe!
Mark

Canon makes a number of different macro lenses for their DSLRs.

Just for fun, I used the online DoF calculator (DOFMaster) to see what depth of field four of them render at their minimum focus distance (MFD) and maximum, 1:1 magnification. Two of the lenses are EF-S lenses only usable on APS-C cameras, so I assumed all four lenses were used on that sensor format (not that it matters in this case). I also used f/11 as the selected aperture in all four cases.

EF-S 35mm f/2.8 IS STM lens... MFD at full 1:1 magnification: 4.88"....... DoF: 0.15"
EF-S 60mm f/2.8 USM lens....... MFD at full 1:1 magnification: 8.11"....... DoF: 0.14"
EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM lens... MFD at full 1:1 magnification: 11.81"..... DoF: 0.10"
EF 180mm f/3.5L USM lens....... MFD at full 1:1 magnification: 18.66"..... DoF: 0.07"

He has since posted in other sections with his new avatar, and Admin didn't move them. I still think it was removed from Main Photography Discussion because it was non-photography related.

Kudos to Admin for keeping Main Photography Discussion limited to photography discussion.
With any luck, this will be moved too.

Shopping around and researching used cameras for teen & adult family portraits.
I currently do just fine with an LX7 when shooting smaller grandchildren who do not feel uncomfortable with the camera and myself being so close.
I never realized until recently that being in such proximity, even to a loved one, made me uncomfortable too.
I also just realized that instead of shopping for a camera I need to consider the price of lenses from a given manufacturer first.
I knew that lenses could get pricey, to say the least, but I see that some budget lenses from some makers are still beyond what I consider an acceptable range.
As an example, I found a used X-T30 that I was willing to consider but could not find an affordable lens for it.
My tastes are simple and my main focus is image quality, not glitz and bells and whistles that I do not have the experience to use.
A Nikon d3400-d5600 in the right range for the model would be fine if I could find an acceptable one and will continue looking.
But I am hoping that someone here will be able to guide me in the right direction.
I have also found a d600 & d610 but am terrified of the possibility of the dreaded oil marks and dust on the images.
I have no experience with Canon but would like to hear if the image quality is on par with Nikon.
My price range is a little flexible but I will not go beyond $800.
I have seen some incredible member images and I consider these an art form, but I do not need that quality; just good clear images that will seldom exceed 8x10.
Any help will be appreciated.
Is there a section of this forum for members selling cameras?
Thanks, Ken

Remember that 25mm is one inch. An inch can be a lot to give up when you only start with three or six.

No doubt. Especially with a shorter lens, or when using a hood. Depends a lot on what type of auxiliary lighting you may be employing, also. For 105mm or less, I prefer the lens to extend, doesn't matter much to me for longer lenses.

And the final fact is because internal lenses shorten the focal length at the minimum distance, so in effect it is not the same focal length. This is called focus breathing, and is usually not an issue unless you are focus stacking using the focus adjust method, which would change the field of view, as opposed to the camera position shift method which does not.

It would take forever to find it, but quite awhile back someone here said they found that an internal focus lens only reduced the working distance by about 25mm versus an external focus lens. I think he was comparing 2 different Tokina 100mm macro lenses. At any rate, I agree that the only real concern might be when focus stacking.
