I recently purchased a used Nikon 105 2.8D for use on my D750. I use it primarily for macro, where I usually use a tripod so why VR? I also don't mind the aperture ring on the D......less than 1/2 the price is nothing to sneeze at either.
I use a Nikon 85mm 1.8 for portrait work but have heard the 105 would also be a good fit.
Good luck!
There's no such thing as a dumb question. :)
Thought it to be a good deal, trying to be helpful.
Thanks, I purchased through Adorama. I'm sure they're doing this for something new coming down the pipe.
I don't need the best and badest (don't think that's a word), just something a little better than I have (7100) at a reasonable price.
I pulled the trigger: $1496.95

That intrigues me!
Thanks!
Thanks, I'm leaning that direction. I' looking for higher quality at higher ISO.
On another note:
I wish they would produce just a DSLR w/o video and sink the $$$ spent on duel technology into high quality still imagery.
I shoot video professionally but use dedicated pro equipment for what is to be produced. I don't think one machine can fulfill two purposes exceptionally well.
Great comparison, thanks!
I have 6 lenses, 50/50 DX/FX and am looking into the 24-70 2.8.
I think the main reason I have for going FF is quality at high ISO.
As far as "looking professional" with an 810, I don't give a s**t :) Just want something that works.
Thanks again!
Thanks Dan, I was concerned about using higher ISO with the DX. Going to the 750 might remedy that.
