LOL, What can you say of an individual that uses a fictitious Star Trek space ship as his logo??
Living in a fantasy land? Totally removed from reality? These people are breathing our air, and all thinking individuals should object vehemently.
The answer to an age old question is NO!! "A pig has no self awareness of being a pig" it thinks itself MORE.

And which University had a name starting with "O", moron? You are positively dumber than a box of rocks.

Keenan, I truly admire your fortitude, but you must inevitably arrive at the conclusion that arguing with the brainwashed, Fox-quoting right-wingers is only an exercise in futility.
They are incapable of objectivity or self thought. I mean... they all just voted a red-haired orangutan into the white house. WTF !!!!!!
I'm signing off from this site upon realizing the lack of intelligence running rampant herein, as they're not even capable of a discerning discussion.
One of my favorite maxims goes like this: "YOU CAN'T TEACH A PIG TO SING, NOT ONLY ARE YOU WASTING YOUR TIME, BUT IT ANNOYS THE PIG"

Hitler ALSO brainwashed the weak-minded masses.

Although he tried to backtrack and say he didn't mean it, Reince Priebus seemed to be comparing Trump to Christ. I thought that was Trump's job.

“Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King.”

King? Savior??? I'm afraid our new (self-appointed) king is less of a messiah and much more of an incubus, Preying on women and out to destroy the rest of us.
He uses that orange comb-over hair to conceal two little horns.

I use ND filters primarily for smoothing out water in streams and oceans. I use a big stopper, 10 stop filter. I usually shoot at around 30 seconds on a very, very sturdy tripod. I use a Tiffen filter which also tends to enrich the shot for colors. I also use Minolta AF lenses that further enrich the colors of the shot. The nice thing about ND filters each and every shot you take comes out differently cause the water moves differently each and every time. My ten stopper is very easy to calculate, without the filter I get my exposure to come out a 1/30 of a second, that way, when I put my filter on, it becomes a 30 second exposure. Things to keep in mind, make sure your eyepiece is covered as stray light will get in and effect your exposure, also once you focus without the filter attached move lens to manual focus so it won't hunt during your long exposure. Enjoy and keep on shooting until the end.
I use ND filters primarily for smoothing out water... (show quote)

An ND filter is a must for controlling water in bright light (unless you want to freeze it of course) as water always has movement.
The first shot is at 1/8 second, while the second at 15 seconds turns water smoky.

What a mess-bad lighting, 6 animals; 8 counting my twin daughters, & my phone as a remote.

Beautiful family, love the animals. But... why would you post such a poor, out of focus photo?

I like it, it's frayed and tattered, accurately depicting the state of our country, and the deterioration of a once great nation.

Here in Riverside County they are urging everyone to put milkweed into landscaping projects, including a firm that does landscape design for both government and housing developments. Our Corona City Library raises them in the library.

Robert, thanks for the information, very interesting. It's heartening to know some people are aware of the Monarch problem and are doing what they can to help offset the sweeping use of chemical pesticides.
Thanks, Your photos help raise awareness. Now... can you do bees??? lol

Great portrait!!!!
B&W is better in this case, it removes a distracting background and adds a bit of drama.
Good looking "Pup"
I have never had a dog that liked it picture taken, any shot I got were grab shots.

I think you just hit it on the nose, that's how I feel
I also have to sneak in a good photo when I can.

Comments welcomed

That special effect is so mesmerizing it makes an interesting photo from most subjects, but be careful in what you're shooting.
I love #3, the peek in the window is VERY nice, I would have liked to see the window more as the focal point.
#6 has some beautiful lines and angles, it's my favorite.

Both are beautiful but the loss of detail and bokeh in the b/w makes me opt for the color version.
Nice portrait. Gotta know what the model's name is.

ajw46, interesting mix you did combining the B&W with the color. It shows what would happen if I would have left the bokeh on the B&W, I would still opt to darken that area and make the face pop out more.
The dog is my 3 year old Flatcoated retriever named Raven

A color conversion to B&W could be done to retain more detail and be less contrasty.

John, I sort of agree with you, I could have lightened the blacks a bit for more detail. I reduced (darkened) the bokeh above on purpose as I wanted the face to really pop out in B&W
As you know, we tend to see things differently one day to the next, and so the high contrast was intentional, but I do see your point.

WOW! Good job, You must have the patience of a saint . These beautiful, miracle animals are dying by the millions, in no small part due to Monsanto's GMOs and glyphosate in their widespread weed killers, which poisons them directly and eradicates Milkweed plants. (Deforestation and bad weather behavior also to blame)
Maybe your wonderful photos will inspire people to act. See: www.shopmonarchwatch.org it's an interesting place to start.
I'm glad you've posted this. Without nature, we're dead.

I believe this is an example where B&W in more powerful than the color.
I loved the color one until I morphed it into mono.
