Been raining almost daily in SW Arkansas with wind and have not seen many birds in the backyard. Saturday was a break in the weather and the the birds showed up with a flicker landing just two feet from me on the deck railing surprise to me and him both.

Dark and rainy days but managed to get several photos of the Northern Flickers that have showed up in the backyard for two days now. Counted eight on the ground the first day and were more on the ground and the trees the second day.

Both images have a pleasant softness about them. I think it might have worked better if the white haze hadn't overlapped the birds at all. And they might look more balanced as a whole if the rest of the image (apart from the birds themselves) is softened.

Thank you, it helps me to have someone with a trained eye in photography to give me advice. Thanks for your time in responding. Barbara

This pic of the bluebird was taken between two rails of my deck and how the camera captured the image is what you see. I like the artistic effect myself, but what are so of your opinions on these two photos.

Thanks for your great comment LittleRiver ! ........https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-269999-1.html

Thanks so much for the info! I'm a 64 year old female with a left elbow replacement and have been having issues lately with my strength and pain in that left arm holding the camera. I am in the process now of trying to get my bodypod together, this will be such a blessing to take the pain off my arm. Thanks for sharing! Barbara

I have a Mango tree in my back yard. The other day I noticed a Red Belly pecking at one of the fallen fruit - did not think much of it.

A few days later, I heard loud chirping - sounding like baby birds at a nest. So I followed the sounds and found this nest in a neighbor's tree ! Much of what the adults were feeding the babies were bits of Mango !

I grabbed the Canon 80D and 70-300 IS II nano, went over and got this shot hand held. later I went back with the 400mm prime and bodypod thinking I could get something better - - but this turned out to be the best I could manage ! (IMO)

I have a beautiful orchard oriole that visits the feeder, enjoying the grape jelly several times during the day.

I had lots of Baltimore Orioles migrating through my backyard and provided me with great photo opportunities. They went through three oranges and a jar of grape jelly a day for about four weeks.
