It's a third party through Amazon...that is where the doubt kicks in.

Thanks, everyone, for your thoughts on this subject. I was about to step out of my budget and purchase from B and H for a cyber Monday deal, but I see everyone talking about refurbished on UHH...and thought I would check some out. It turned out, the one on Amazon was just over $1000. I would rather buy new, but this deal sounded great...but sourced from an unrecognizable third party vender. Though it is through Amazon...the strange name may be a deterrent. Your comments helped me realize that! I will continue my search and look through some of the places some of you have mentioned...or maybe just go "new". thanks all...

Thanks for your response. Actually, the fulfillment is a third party and not a recognizable name...which led me to question it. Perhaps I was right not to make the purchase.

Hi all...I love reading all the great questions and answers here, but now I have one. I am looking to make a new purchase and "refurbished" fits my budget better. After looking at most of my online options I checked Amazon and found exactly what I want. My question is, is Amazon a good source for refurbished cameras? Their information on refurbished items states that they were either refurbished by the manufacturer OR a third party. That third party comment worried me a little. Other resources had the camera I want (D7200) but I would need to hunt down a lens (refurb?) in my budget. I was looking for a d7200 kit as I currently don't have any lenses. Thoughts on Amazon or better resources would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone. It looks like I am really late to this party. I also came to this forum to ask the same question...which DSLR is right for me. Though this post is a few years old, I feel that it is still a good question with some helpful answers. Of course, the D3200 may not be the most current model to refer to.

My question is a perhaps a bit more tough. Nikon or Canon? I have had Canons my entire life...in point-and-shoot. My current camera is a Canon G15. I now want to upgrade to a DSLR and am looking at the Nikon D5500 or Canon T6s. Everyone I talk to says Nikon...but I am torn. My next step will go and try both, but until then...any thoughts?

I want to take pictures of my 3 year old daughter, as well as portrait and landscapes.

Thanks for your help!
