Hey the $22 remote flash looks pretty good. I suppose I might have to find replacement vacuum tubes for the camera transmitter and flash receiver, though.

Agreed. We seem to be taking a giant leap backward to when rooftop antennas gave us about 7 stations and we had to watch 4 or 5 advertisement breaks for a one-hour show…except now we’re paying for the privilege of watching them. Same for YouTube where, even for a 3-minute video, they’ll now interrupt the middle of it with an ad.

Well if they’ll send me their 1948 catalog as the ad offers, maybe I can finally afford a high end camera. Or would it likely be a model with a hand-held magnesium powder flash attachment?

Wait, wait…. You mean as a senior I can’t actually get a new car for $2,300 or a condo for $125 a month?

I spent some time in the coastal Rockland-Rockport-Camden area and like it a lot. But expect crowds in the summer.

I'll second this recommendation. Depending on what you're after, obviously. Boothbay Harbor is a nice area with the Maine Botanical Gardens and the Maine Maritime Museum is in Bath. Camden is the quintessential harbor town and going a little further up the coast, there's the Owls Head Transportation museum and a Wyeth art museum in Rockport (or is it Rockland; I always confuse the two). Pemaquid point near Damariscotta has a very photogenic lighthouse and there are plenty of woodland hiking and coastal opportunities throughout.

I agree with the tourist comment, too.

A friend has the snack size. It's very tiny and leaves many kernels unpopped. If you're thinking of the larger size, you will need a fairly large microwave oven.

If you purchase on amazon, should be easy to return as it is sold and shipped by them directly.

Best way to pop from kernels I discovered: use heavy pot with cover, on stovetop. Use avocado oil. Use Bob's Red Mill White Popcorn. Simply salt to taste when done, don't add butter. Fantastic!!!

Yes! My wife and I have her parent's electric popcorn popper that's just a heated metal bowl with glass lid. It pops 99% of the kernels using a minimal amount of the oil of our choice and give us beautifully popped popcorn with great flavor. Best of all, it's completely reusable so there is no "Jiffy Pop" pan or microwave bag to throw away. BTW the "oils" in single use poppers and bags are highly saturated so they'll remain solid in your car on a hot summer day.

I think right now used office furniture would have a lot of good deal on chairs. Many companies are selling their expensive chairs because their workers are working at home.

That's what we found. Most offices swap out their chairs well before they're even slightly worn looking so you're buying an almost new piece of furniture. Good deals, too.

Both my Honda and a little Phillips micro stereo in my kitchen read MP3's off a thumb drive. Interestingly, I found out I had to re-format the thumb drive to a FAT32 in order for the car to read it.

A liberated woman well ahead of her time, if you read her bio. Her likeness adorned many a warbird and no doubt reminded pilots what they were fighting for.

Hope it holds up. I tend to find chairs from Staples, Target, Amazon, etc. end up with ripped vinyl or stripped bolts within a few years. We went to a used office furniture store and bought something commercial that's not as flashy as a Staples Gaming Chair but that's still comfortable and sturdy after 8 years.

There is so many things posted here that are copyrighted. How many times have pages from a manual been posted to explain how to do something? It's not like we're copying material and selling it. In most cases, I think it helps the author because it gives him publicity, but that's not the point.

And how about when a member posts a series of photos of funny restaurant signs and such? Does the restaurant have any rights to UHH's reproduction and sharing of their work? In fact, I'd bet most funny sayings on those signs are someone else's work so is the restaurant infringing on some author's copyright (assuming it's copyrighted). How about when someone posts a joke originated by a professional comedian? I'm sure that are myriad of similar examples and reuse of internet-posted materials is a massive grey area, legally, but just like jaywalking that might be illegal, no one's going to enforce anything.

Generally, copyright protection is to ensure an artists's/cartonists's/author's work is not used by someone else for monetary gain without permission or compensation. Although I can see where it's technically illegal (like jaywalking) once a piece is on the internet, I'm sure the originator is aware his/her work is going to be shared.

For an environmental conference I was organizing I once contacted Larson's office to ask if we could reproduce a cartoon as part of the advertising for the conference. I explained we were a not-for-profit organization (NH Dept. of Environmental Services), we would not use the cartoon to make money and it would benefit the environment. Larson's staff was sympathetic and said they understood his work was commonly reproduced for a variety of reasons but preferrd we wouldn't use his work as a general policy. They stopped short of saying they'd take legal action if we did. We ended up honoring their request.

My wife was a real Allman fan. We saw them 4 or 5 times (without Duane but with Dickie) and then Dickie with Great Southern, twice. His “blazing” guitar easily matched Van Zandt or Caldwell who had that reputation. A gifted writer and performer who suffered from some inner demons leading to several band break ups and some not-so-nice relationships with women.

Not to butt in, but to minimize wear on your vinyl, I’d try 1-1/2 G if your arm and cartridge will track at that weight. If not, try 2G.

Yeah I checked with my friend who also had the Stanton cartridge and he confirmed the specs called for 3 grams…which was indeed heavy compared to its peers. He said he lowered the weight to 2 grams and it worked fine and it could have been even less without affecting the Shure tone arm’s tracking.
