We might note that the 1996 rewrite if the Communications Act that implemented the Universal Service Charge was written by Alaska's late Republican and very conservative US Senator Ted Stevens. It was extremely well crafted because Stevens knew what he was doing.

Senator Stevens wasn't so successful with his bridge-building talents!
Just another political hack.

The OP suggested a voluntary contribution from companies - big companies. Companies that measure income and profit in the billions of dollars may be "driven" out of one state into another if the other offers tax incentives - at the the expense of the taxpayers.

As for regulations, they're for our protection! Even with all those "rules and regulations on business," workers and the public are still pretty much at the mercy of businesses.

I do not see how it is a taxpayer expense when jobs are created and the revenue from those new jobs exceeds the cost of the incentives. Of course, being a victim of New York taxes, that scenario would sorely fail.

Sure , let's burden companies even more . Bring on more regulation . Let's regulate more and more until we drive a few more million jobs out of here . In NJ , a heavily Democratic state , there are so many rules and regulations on business , they have driven out an incredible amount of jobs . And the property taxes , because of the lost industry etc . , shifts to the homeowner . The lawyers dont care . But mention deregulation , and the whole rotten bunch cry like babies .
And tomorrow I'm going to enjoy the solar eclipse .šŸ˜ƒ Wear your glasses everyone !
Sure , let's burden companies even more . Bring on... (show quote)

Yes, we always learn from solar eclipses. NASA will have a plane trying to follow the eclipse to extend the viewing time.

Let's just hope that this eclipse will "make America great again."

Is this Trump's idea?

In the wild, things are seldom as they appear. Male lions (and many other species) kill the offspring of other males (infanticide in animals) in order to bring the females in estrus. Trophy hunting focuses on the dominant males. Removing them from the population does not necessarily have long term effects on the population, and in some cases reduces infanticide.

Just a reminder... Pull the tab off the battery and let the sit for 15 minutes before closing the battery door. Battery manufacturers claim this prolongs battery life.

You can reset the codes and clear all previous "incidents" by removing the negative battery cable for 2 minutes.
