I totally get that. Will have to investigate a bit. I've also read that Ziess (sp?) makes a good and compatible macro lens. Thanks for sharing.

Hi all,

I'm looking to purchase a macro lens for my D750 in a few weeks (to shoot bugs primarily ) and was wondering if I could get some input (good, bad or indifferent) from first hand users. Also curious to know if purchasing a non-Nikon macro lens is worth considering.

Thanks in advance.

George

In Lightroom you can set up a watched folder, tether the camera, and set up a slide show. Prefocus a lens, camera on a tripod, a speedlight or strobe, some large foam core to make a "booth," a flat screen display, and some wireless triggers and yo have a Selfie Booth where attendants can see the selfies being created in real time. You just need to figure out a way to keep people from walking off with the triggers.

THAT's what I'm talking about! Thank you, Gene! Skipping the foam core this time I think. And rethinking the whole "selfie" approach. It'll just have to be a photo booth this time. I'll likely man the booth myself to keep an eye on the equipment. We'll go big next time!

On this forum, most will get that reference.

Yup. Loved that show! My parents got me hooked as a young boy!

I was asked if I can set up a "selfie booth" at an event I'm attending this weekend out in Palm Desert. Was wondering how difficult it is to set one up and what special equipment if any I need to get. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks

Just read that Adorama is is offering a bundle consisting of a Refurbished D7200 + 55 - 200 VRII + WU-1A for a price of $849.95.

Sounds like a good deal. And your wife could have a lens of her own.

That's good, Madman. Thank you!

George you might just as well get use to it. Once your wife got her hands on it then it became hers and your out of luck. Remember the saying that wives use, " What's yours is mine and what's mine is still mine". Good luck....Rich

Oh, Rich. Man Up!!! (as he looks nervously over his shoulder while typing)

When I bought my wife's camera I thought along similar lines - first time I took it out I learned very quickly that wasn't the case. What's mine is hers and what's hers is hers, I now find that simple to understand.

Pull yourself together, man (slap, slap). Don't let her push you around! You're MAGNETO for goodness sake! Lol!

Actually, the saying goes, "What's mine is mine and what's yours is ours." Wife speaking.

Lol. Boy did I open a can of worms.

George - Greetings from Oz
I'll second the D7100 or the next version if its been upgraded - I have a D7100 and a D810 - I still reach for that 7100 so often - To me one of Nikon's best cameras released in later years - then you can just share lens
Steve

Yes, Steve. I believe now it's a toss up between the D7100 and D500. Thanks for your input.

And it is Red, George. That way she won't take your camera "by mistake"!

Lol. I don't mind her using my camera, Cat. As long as I have one just as capable when I need it.

(You could always have 2 D750's as I know of no law against it! That would streamline teaching and problem solving.)

Kind of looking for the interchangeability of DX and FX. And definitely saving a little $$ on a quality 2nd body. Otherwise, that would be a great solution.

Consider the D7100. Almost identical specs to the 7200, and you can find them in the $800 range on the E-Bay.

Yep.

As a woman with small hands I LOVE my D7200 and there is a great package being offered at Costco. However, I thought the D500 might be too big and bulky for me but a friend of mine has one and I am finding that the D500 does, in fact, feel good to me. I agree with some others here, let her get the camera in her hands to judge what feels good to her. You know that if the camera does not feel good in her hands she won't be using it. Sorry...happy wife....

Agreed, Dyan. And don't be sorry. I agree with that saying as long as I'm happy too. Hence "Happy spouse = Happy house"
