$100.00 off camera and accepted and $60.00 off the battery grip.

Finally got mine for 80D 18-135mm for $1240 and the same deal for the grip.

Thanks for the info on the bag.
It is a little more than I wanted to spend, but it is expandable for longer lenses.

Looking for a simple walk around holster type bag that will accommodate the camera with 18-135mm and battery grip.
I saw this on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001TZUS98/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1NGP96SMJG288&coliid=IJHCNP4IOXWYS&psc=1
I like the style and simplicity of it but I don't think it will work with a battery grip attached.
Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks,

Thanks guys for all the specs and comparisons between the two cameras and lenses.
I will be on the lookout for the 80D with the bundled STM lenses.

Since you say you are not concerned about video, the USM lens focuses noticeable faster than the silent motored STM lens which was specifically designed to be quieter when focusing during video operations. Optically they are pretty much equals.

Thanks for the info.
I think there is only about $300.00 difference in the two if equipped the same.

Hello again,
I started a topic about the Nikon 5500 vs the Canon T6s back in June and it got moved and buried to the Nude Photography, Boudoir Photography section because I posted (what I thought were) tasteful models.
I am still considering the Canon T6s, but I have been saving all this time and now may have the budget for the Canon 80d 18-135. My main question is, STM vs USM lens. I don't plan on using it for video, but who knows what the future might hold?
So, $599.00 for the USM and $279.00 for the STM. With the difference in price I might be able to pick up a used 50mm or 85mm lens specifically for portrait work.
Maybe the T6s would still be the most budget friendly and have extra money for better optics.
What are your thoughts on this?

I am offended by anyone who would take offense... Your wife is lovely... she looks like a paid model...

If you want to do portraiture... i'd have a beginning and end game in mind. So start with a little camera, but one that takes the same size lens as where you want to end up.

Ie, start with a 50 or 80mm prime lens that opens wide for brokeh... and soft DOF. , etc. You could get by for a very long time with one really good lens. Takes awhile to master one anyways- will make you a better photographer and you will know what the next one has got to do... Gathering stuff like filters, and or whatever, the price of upgrading begins to get huge once you begin to factor replacing it all at once... so have what you want to end up with in mind and- create a strategy toward that goal, so you try and spend you hard earned $$$ just once and build a set up.

Know that a good FF lens will retain decent value, will work on CF bodies and most importantly, will go right on a new FF body and right away show you what it can really do... Consider used- any reputable camera shop will not buy junk. But you will trim off a hunk of $$$.

IN fact- in the end, a camera body- while significant, is not the most expensive sort of equipment you will eventually own.
I am offended by anyone who would take offense... ... (show quote)

For starters..
I want a good everyday lens to carry around that would cover most any situations, which I guess the kit lens 18-135 would provide.

In the end game I really want to concentrate on developing my skills in portraiture photography.
I have been reading reviews on the Canon ef-85mm-f-18-usm.
It appears to be a reasonability priced highly regarded entry level lens designed for low light situations and portraiture.
What do you guys think?

The more I research the more I want..
I have now started looking at the Canon 80D.
Does this GAS ever get satisfied?

Nice shot.
I noticed in your photostream you had several images like this with a black background.
How do you get this results, pick the flower then place it on a black background or photoshop?

Wow thanks for all the info,
You guys have given me a lot of information (which is what I was hoping for), but now I am in information overload.
I will have to go back and re-read all the info provided to fully understand everything posted.

I did go up to Bestbuy and physically handle the two cameras in question.
My preference just by feel was the Canon. The nikon felt like too (compact) much like a (point and shoot) if that makes any sense.

I did follow the rent to try link and they didn't have these available, but it would be nice to try before you buy.

What about bracketing, HDR and time-lapse between the two?
Also, I like to take long night night sky exposures.

One other thing I want to ask is about the kit lens 18-135 vs the two lens kit 18-135 and a 55-250?
Would the addition of the extra kit lens be worth the extra $50.00 or would the money be better spent on a prime lens?

I must say I am not an expert by any means, so take what I say knowing it is coming from a rank amateur.
I link it is a great composition, lovely balance and great lighting, but I have to agree with John after reading his comment
I can see what he is talking about with the tension aspect. At first glance I couldn't see any issues. It just goes to show I have a lot to learn.

Please keep posting.
I look forward to seeing your work.
