I've been to Salem several times and taken a few tours. None of the tours restricted photography and in addition to the ghost stories, you pick up a lot of history. The only place I remember them asking that no flash photography be taken was in a short play by actors.
If you prefer walking on your own, there's a trail marked on the sidewalk and if you follow it, it will take you to all the places of interest.
Can't beat Salem in October. Good choice.

I think the composition is lovely, a very attractive foreground leading us to the cool architecture. I would tone down that bright white triangle, make it more the color of the horizontal structure. Agree about the vignette comment by big-guy: you have a sunny, bright summer scene with heavy dark edges closing in on us. Regarding vignettes in general, seems like the busier a scene, the less successful they are. For single subjects, or to help direct our eye, they are great.

One other thought if this is nearby: try a slightly lower angle so there is no brown space between the flowers and structure. It might not work, but I'm curious

So, I took some of the suggestions from you and others and reworked the photo.
Do you think this one is better, worse or about the same?

I've seen other churches do this. In my opinion, this is a very, very bad idea. Just having a firearm and being able to hit a silhouette target does not qualify you for SWAT. If they want to make the church safer this isn't the way.

Thanks! I dunno. I was told that "most" riders AND horses usually have some type of ear protection. I didn’t get close enough to the horses to check it out, though.

If you look at the photo of the cowgirl standing by the fence, you can see her ear protection.

I'll step outside the box here and suggest that both you and your wife have the same brand of camera. That allows you to trade lenses and other equipment back and forth so you don't need to buy two of everything because your equipment and her's are not compatible with each other.

My understanding of the current copyright laws and I am not a lawyer, is that the only copyright that is legal is when you register your image or in this case video, with the U.S. Copyright Office.
Do I find this case troubling? Absolutely.
There is a very good video on Copyrighting your images on the Kelbyone website but you do need to be a member to see it.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Arthur Ave, probably the safest place in the Bronx as well as the tastiest.

Most of it is live, but I enhanced the fog and subdued the colors in post with Lightroom.

Are you a "Down State" person, Frank? Quite a bit of "history" shots to be had in New Castle Co.

I'm actually a mid-state guy. Live in Magnolia.

I'd love to see something in the foreground. I know that's not always possible but I think it would make a good photo great.

Nice shots. Great separation from the background while keeping the lighting attractive.
Well done.
