All - Here is my latest....I used much of what you all told me previously I am really happy with this one. Always looking for pointers/assistance, however.
I manually set the Aperture & Shutter speed, while allowing the camera to choose the ISO. I used Spot metering, dynamic/ continues focus using 9 points and back-button focus.

All - I tried to incorporate all of your advice during my next trip........i have uploaded 8 of my favorites. I employed the approach of manual exposure, with auto ISO, plus back button focus.......I also use spot focus on most of them, as well. your advice was priceless. I am not an expert by any means, but the advice was a huge help. any additional feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Mike - Thanks. I was in the Allison Grandstand. Across from the Pits between the Restart Zone & the Finish Line. Charlotte is on my bucket list.

thanks again to all....one more question....I see the suggestions regarding spot focus......what about metering....spot? matrix? trial & error? I'm thinking if I use spot & the spot is on a dark area of the subject, could the rest be over-exposed?...thank you in advance.

Thanks to all for the advice & encouragement. I will ttry the manual approach with auto ISO, higher f-stop and less zoom. Additionally, I will try different focus settings. Thanks again!

I'm new at the BIF deal. This was taken using Nikon D7200 with Sigma 150-600, @ 600mm. Shutter Priority: 1/1600 @ F6.3 @ ISO 900. I'm just looking for some honest feedback & some pointers. The head is just not as clear as the rest of the bird. I guess I could/should lower the ISO, but How slow could I go with the shutter speed & still get a decent shot? Would that have had any effect on the head, anyway?
