How often has anyone really need anything greater than 200 for vacation travel photos? I do a fair amount of travelling and photography is part of that. I sought a relatively light weight high quality lens which didn't cost me more than a monthly car payment!

I agree 100%. My 18-200 Nikon lens is on my d5500 >99% of the time. Good luck.

The 18-200 is a decent lens, especially considering that it is an 11:1 superzoom. I have one that I use in those cases where it is not practical to carry a bucketload of lenses around, or where I need to manage weight and size. It will capture nice images, but is not particularly fast at the long end. Technically, it has some shortcomings. But it has been around for a long time, which is an indication that it continues to fill a lot of needs for a lot of people. It also received design update a few years ago, so it is far from an orphan.

I am a rank amateur photographer and I take quite a lot of photos (around 1,500 to 2,000 per month). I am the de facto photographer for several music events in my area. (Note: I am frugal in not taking a lot of shots of the same thing.)

My current dilemma is this.

I am completely reliant on my Canon 80D, for which I have several nice lenses and I have been jonesing for a second 80D body and I found a great deal for a used one. The struggle is whether to pull the trigger on my retirement budget. (I can come up with the cash.)

It would mostly be a backup but would also occasionally be used for quick lens changes at various venues.

So, while I can come up with the cash, I am unsure whether I should.

I am sure that some of you here have found yourselves in a similar situation and my question to you is; how important is it to have a backup camera body in a situation such as I have described?

And, yes, I know, ultimately I have to make this decision. I am purely looking for advice from the experienced peeps here.

All the best and I love UHH.

I have a second D5500 with me at all times which I very seldom use, but it is great reassurance. Do it!

your solution is simple. Don't buy Epson!!!

Couldn't agree more Had terrible experience with Epson, bought Canon Pixma ix6820 2 yrs. ago for $150. No more problems and sometimes go a few mos. without printing. Good luck!

Looking for suggestions for a day trip from Venice next month. Would prefer travel by train or coach, but rental car not out of the question. Padua, Vicenza or Verona are probably the most obvious choices, but I really don't know much about them. Burano is already a seperate day on the schedule.

My main interest is photo ops, but I'm the only photographer in our group of four.

Recommendations and suggestion for what to see there appreciated.

Go to Padua and see the Scrovegni Chapel--full of magnificent Giotto works. Advance reservations are required. Have a great trip!

I'm going there next week. Do you have any suggestions as to where to go for some wonderful photo opportunities?

This suggestion is a little different, but visit Oberndorf, a small village only 13 miles north of Salzburg where "Silent Night" was composed and first performed on Christmas Eve, 1818. The original church is gone, but there is a commemorative chapel and a museum opposite it. I first learned about this when I was 14 y/o, but didn't get there until 50 yrs. later! Believe me it was worth the wait. Have a great trip!

Hi, I’ve been reading the posts for awhile — this is my first try to write one!
Flying into Portland mid September and staying at Augusta first night. Taking hwy 3 to Bar Harbor for 3 days, then 3 days going So on 1 to Kennebunkport, 2 days in White Mts. This leaves an extra day for coast or White Mts.
Please give suggestions for lighthouse or other tours, lobster, and scenery points not to miss!
Have booked hotels.
Attempted to do this trip at 911– but got stuck in Chicago!!
Thanks for your help.

Not too many know about or visit the Schoodic Point part of Acacdia National Park which is only 12 miles east as-the-crow-flies from the main part of Acadia, but is 50 miles by car because of the shape of the coast. This is the pure raw beauty of the Maine Coast without the commercialism of Bar Harbor. Drive to Winter Harbor and you are there. Be sure to eat at Chase's Restaurant in Winter Harbor while you are there. I was stationed at the Winter Harbor Naval Base (now closed) in 1968-69 and was stunned by its beauty every day! Hope you will enjoy it, and have a great trip!

I also have the same model for a backup--Nikon D5500. Have been lucky and have never had to use it, but I won't have to think too much if I do. Good luck!

RE Acadia National Park, go to Winter Harbor, ME, which is relatively unknown, but magnificent views of the coast without many people. While there, eat at Chase's Restaurant. I was stationed there in the Navy in 68-69.

I have a Nikon D5500 camera and a Nikon SB700 external flash unit. For white balance should I use auto or flash? I am sure that this is stated in a manual somewhere, but I cannot find it. Your advice will be greatly appreciated, but please, no "wise guy" replies. Thanks very much.

Hello, I'm new to this site so I'm looking forward to learning from all of you. I'm traveling this summer to Prague and know it's a beautiful city to photograph. Can any of you inform me of any places, buildings, or unique things to photograph while there? I know about the Charles Bridge, the castle and the Old Town Square. Thank you for any help or guidance.

Lidice, a town about 20-30 miles west of Prague which was totally destroyed and all adult inhabitants executed by the Germans in retaliation for the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich during WWII It is now a memorial and a very moving experience. Don't miss it!!

Has anyone rigged up a flash diffuser or bounce flash for the Panasonic lumix zs100 or zs200? Thanks.
