RCJets is correct, but he is probably being a little bit too gentle with everyone.

NiCd batteries are vented and will vent (leak) if charged at too high a rate or to too high a level. They will also leak spontaneously when old...usually because the relief valve in the vent fatigues and fails. This material is very corrosive to contacts and wiring. NiMh batteries also leaked occasionally, but much more rarely. Seems that their design was better and more mature, and their chargers better controlled what went on between them and the battery.

Lithium and its compounds are very reactive. Elemental lithium will react spontaneously with air. Some of the compounds may, as well. These batteries are sealed and will not leak. They may swell and rupture, and if they do rupture, there is very likely to be a very energetic reaction with the air. A swelled battery is on the path to rupture, and it is dangerous to handle it. DO NOT EVER drill into a swelled lithium battery or grab it with pliers or similar tools. You could easily find yourself on fire.

I do not ask anyone to take my word on this. Do some reading about lithium and its compounds in a reliable reference source. Don't end up a charred pile of residue just to try to prove a point.

Good to know. Next time I have a battery swell a little in my camera and can't pull it out I'll I'll take a rag and put a little amount of Alcohol on and wipe the bottom of the battery to remove any oils etc. and glue something with on the bottom with a very small amount of crazy glue and pull on it.

I had to use a long nose pliers to remove the battery from its slot where it pops up because of spring action. The last shoot was only a month ago. How could it expand that fast. Battery is one recommended by Fujifilm.
I know manuals say to remove batteries when not in use for an EXTENDED PERIOD of time. How long is that?
Can you restore the enlarged battery to its former size? Hoggers here who have several cameras: how sure are you that a battery is not “hulking” in one of them. Do you have a method?

I once had a battery swell up in my camera. I found no way even with pliers to remove it. I then drilled a small hole in the exposed end of the battery and screwed a small screw a little ways into the end and with pliers easily removed the battery. I checked the date that I received it and found that it was many months old. I had scribe the date received the new battery and found it to be one of the oldest in my case.

It's been a bunch of years, but I have repaired major appliances for a large company.
Whirlpool was always the best quality on the market.
I don't know about now though.

Greetings.

Today I attended an event (ok, it was the Acro-Cats, a traveling show of trained cats. Please don’t laugh.) Photography was encouraged but “professional “ cameras were not allowed, by which they meant cameras with interchangeable lenses.

I’m planning for the next such event. Since bridge are mostly gone now, what camera would you recommend? Preferably cheap. Possibly used. Probably with a relatively long focal length.

Thanks!!!!!

Currently Over the years I have narrowed myself down to just two cameras.
I now have a a7Rv and a fixed lens RX10IV. I use both depending on my circumstances.
I don't know if any of this helps you.

But you don't believe in aliens.

The problem with campus protests is that they will embolden Hamas to dig in and hope that pressure will force Israel to back off. Instead, pressure should be placed on Hamas to surrender, which it should have done since the beginning of the war. Hamas has brought mayhem upon the people whose best interests they are supposed to be serving. Instead, they seem to be serving some jihad instead.

When you are looking at an image in your editor you are looking at the full size image.

When exporting the image as a JPEG, it might end up looking different if it is resized to save space, depending on the amount of detail present. It can also make a difference in the print.

The next post shows three different sizes of the same finely detailed high contrast B&W image. You might see the difference in the thumbnails.

If you download the images and look at them without pixel peeping, you can see how much resizing altered the appearance of the image. The difference also shows up when I print the three images.

I would like to ask, what if the original picture had been taken with a Sony a7Rv that shoots @61 MP?

First of all I have lost count of how much money I have happily spent at BnH. Every single experience I have had at BnH has been positive. Absolutely no complaints from me what so ever. So what's going on now?

I opened a Payboo account. With this account you can buy what you want, and depending on how much you spend you get so many months of interest free payments.

I bought $6200.00 worth of new gear expecting several months to pay it off so I wouldn't by paying any interest.

I received my first invoice today from Payboo and they charged me $134.00 in interest.

I am not done with BnH by any means. Since i don't have $6,000 sitting around to pay this off tomorow I guess I have no other option except to withdraw money from my pension account to pay off this balance and say good bye to Payboo.

So what's up BnH?

I have a problem answering your question.
I bought approx. $6,000 worth of camera Equip. from B&H and used my PayBoo card.
When the bill came in on the card and I paid it off immediately and all has been OK since.
I wasn't charged for the State Sales Tax.

I still feel that the honeymoon isn't over as yet.
Note: the "husband training" is still going, you never graduate.

My mom was the one that told me that my new girlfriend was the one.

Generally, copyright protection is to ensure an artists's/cartonists's/author's work is not used by someone else for monetary gain without permission or compensation. Although I can see where it's technically illegal (like jaywalking) once a piece is on the internet, I'm sure the originator is aware his/her work is going to be shared.

For an environmental conference I was organizing I once contacted Larson's office to ask if we could reproduce a cartoon as part of the advertising for the conference. I explained we were a not-for-profit organization (NH Dept. of Environmental Services), we would not use the cartoon to make money and it would benefit the environment. Larson's staff was sympathetic and said they understood his work was commonly reproduced for a variety of reasons but preferrd we wouldn't use his work as a general policy. They stopped short of saying they'd take legal action if we did. We ended up honoring their request.

A lot of that looked like BS to me.
After a shower and dousing my ears I only use a cotton swab to pick up what the water had washed out.
I don't ever get the swab close to my eardrum.
