Before doing anything I suggest you clean the metal contacts on lenses and
cameras with alcohol. Do not use rubbing alcohol as that contains an oil.
I had your problem at one time and it worked. I now do it on a regular basis.
No harm in trying it.

I believe that, for your purpose, the 50mm 1.4 lens is overkill. A Canon or Sigma 50mm
F1.8 lens is more than adequate and much less expensive. You don't take portraits with the lens wide open as the nose will be out of focus when you focus on the eyes. When shooting products you want to stop the lens down to, say, f5.6 or f8 or f11 etc. anyway. You will be hard put to find any difference in the resulting sharpness between the lenses. Good luck!

The posting is a few months old and you may have made a decision by now, but for what it is worth,
here is my take on it.
Both are perfectly good cameras. While the T6 may have some extra bells and whistles, that doesn't mean you will get better results with it. I personally prefer the T3i because of its fully articulated rear
viewing screen. $329 for the lot is a good price. If your tele lens is the only lens you have, I would take it.
Canon kit lenses are pretty decent. You can try them out and and sell them if they don't meet your
standard. Same with the bodies. Keep the one you prefer and sell the other.
I own the T3i as well as an older XT. The former is smaller and lighter, the latter has a small viewing screen.
For all practical purposes they produce identical results.
Good luck!

A white handkerchief covering the flash will probably give you the desired result. Give it a try.

Zech,
When I was your age I asked myself the same question. I loved photography and decided to make that my
profession. I learned very quickly that you can not do things the way you like to do them as you will have to please your clients rather than yourself. It can be frustrating, to put it mildly. In retrospect, I should have found something else and kept photography has an enjoyable hobby instead. Also, it is not an easy way to make a living. It took me a few years to realize that. I wish you the best, whatever you decide.

I am a former pro photographer now retired. I now use only my Canon T3i for personal use. It is a fine camera, and if it is in good shape
I would keep it. The T6 will give you a little more versatility but for all practical purposes your photos won't turn out any better. If you
can afford it, I believe you will be better off in an extra good quality lens. Unless you already have a prime lens, the Canon 35mm or 50mm
f:i.4 or f:1.8 comes to my mind.

Letting the battery discharge completely and recharging fully, doing that three or four times, and the battery very often will give you proper readings again.

I've used third-party batteries for years and rarely had a problem. The batteries that come with new cameras probably come from the same source and you may occasionally find a dud there as well. Make sure you fully charge any new battery before you use it in a camera. Some batteries, original or not, may hold their charge somewhat longer than others-so what? Buy two of them and you are still ahead price-wise.

The best camera is the one you have with you, no matter which one it might be.
